I am talking to people at night and I realise they aren't real. What is this?

I woke up at 5pm 2 days ago and went to sleep at 9pm yesterday. Before I went to sleep my friend called me. We had a conversation and I was saying yeah, uh-huh, okay after they finished a sentence but I'd have no idea what they said. On top of that I would interrupt them 3 times throughout the convo talking about things that aren't there and aren't linked to the convo at all. I remember me saying ' wait for Joshua, neither of us know a Joshua, and I realised i was saying it and was so confused.

TL;DR - awake over 24 hours then started to talk about people that weren't real and knowing I was after.

Thanks

There's not really enough information here.

First off - why were you awake for over 24 hours? And why were you sleeping till 5pm two days ago? Sounds as if your sleep pattern has been seriously disrupted by something. Do you normally keep reasonably regular sleeping hours or is it normal for you to be getting up at 5pm - maybe shift work?

May I ask how old you were? And have you taken any recreational drugs lately?

A few answers to these questions might be a start if you want anyone to help you try and unpick all this. I'm a former neuro nurse btw, and also suffer from multiple sleep disorders myself.
