I am the early stages of coming off co-Codamol 30/500 and going cold turkey is very painful!!!! .

I am wracked with aches and pains, flu like symptoms, fidgety legs, sweating, palpitations sometimes and feel useless. I visited my local pharmacist and had a confidential chat with her, she was very supportive. She is going to help me along with the GP, whom I cannot see for another 2weeks!!

Are these symptoms all common with going cold turkey?? The dose I was taking was very high and could be anything from 16 to 25 a day!!! .

Does anyone else get the same symptoms ???

And how long could it last for????

Hi Gill, yes all the withdrawal symtoms you are getting are very common. I came off CC 2nd Feb this year after about 3-4 years cold turkey. It does get easier as the days go by but you need to perserver. It took me about two weeks before I felt human again but now I feel great.

The only downside I see for you is getting the GP involved because it could go on your medicle record that you have a dependancy andif you are doing it cold turkey there realy isnt any need to involve anyone else. I may be wrong but thats the way I see it. Good luck, when you are clean you will know you have done something quite monumental.

      Hi Steve

yep cold turkey is a place I never want to be again. It is nearly the end of my second week of it and just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, this time last week it seemed a very long tunnel and out of my grasp. I am slowly getting back to my old self now, the odd moments a cramping pain gives a jolt so as to remind me not to over do it just yet.

staying focused .😊 it is hard but taking each day at a time.

Hi Gill, from my experience I would say if you are almost two weeks without CC you have broken the back of it, it will get much better from here on. Well done.
