I'm having the same problem now. Having stomach pain and excessive gas. I was burping a lot before but now my stomach just growls for no apprent reason. Even after eating. And i would get this dull pain in my stomach. A few months back, i pooped and the poop looks okay until i started to wipe and i notice that there was blood on it. Like fresh blood. I freaked out and search and they said colon cancer. It later went away on it's own but 1 months later i developed stomach pain which strong for about 2 weeks before it subsides and now it's kicking again. My poop now can go from normal poop shape and 20-30 minutes later become tarry black and painful to pass out

Whatever you do, keep that appointment. Two reasons, one, they will be able to get to the bottom of the problem, and treat accordingly. Googling is the worst thing to do, trust me. If you strain a lot, that could also be causing hemorrhoids (piles). They will bleed and are actually far more likely, given your age, than colon cancer. Second, if the diagnosis should eventually be colon cancer, the faster it's caught, the easier it is to deal with.
It is one of the easiest cancers to deal with if caught early. I;ve had mine removed a year ago, and I must have had it for a very long time with no symptoms at all, as it had grown very large.
Also, if you always have to strain, the most likely reason for that is that you do not drink enough water. Thats by far the commonest cause of constipation. Stomach pain will also be caused by constipation.
Whatever you do, KEEP THAT APPOINTMENT. I can't stress that enough. I'd also repeat that it's highly unlikely to be cancer given your age.

This comment applies to Barry as well, since I see he is also monitoring this thread. The last thing to do is to Google symptoms. If you are not careful you will find that you have everything from athlete's foot to a brain tumour via housemaid's knee. The only safe way to go about it is to consult a professional and get the appropriate tests. The sooner you do this the better for two reasons: firstly the sooner a problem is identified the easier it is to deal with; and secondly, the less time you will spend worrying about the worst case possibility, which almost certainly at your age will not be what you are suffering.
But even if it is the worst case, don't panic. Treatment these days is quite straightforward. My cancer was quite well advanced, partly because my symptoms were not typical for bowel cancer and it took some time to work out what was going on. Once diagnosed, the operation took place in the morning, by the afternoon I was back on the ward eating a fullsize meal and was back home functioning normally (with the odd twinge now and then!) four days later. After some chemo I am now clear according to recent tests. I was a bit older than you when all this took place - 77 to be precise. So if someone my age can get through it, youngsters like you should find it a breeze. As I say, though, it is highly unlikely that you are suffering cancer but I hope my story will ease your mind and stop you going into panic mode thinking about the implications if you do have it.
