I am worried about my heart!

I am 18 years old and in recent weeks I have felt like my heartbeat is a bit off and I now believe they are heart palpatations and it kind of feels like I am completing two heartbeats at once. I may have sleep apnea as people have told me I snore really loud and I seem to have to catch my breath and I know that can put stress on my heart. I have also been stressed out lately and have somewhat severe anxiety issues. I am worried that this could be serious. Do you think this is just my anxiety or should I be very concerned. Thanks very much

I would check with your GP. They can refer you to a cardiologist or possibly into a sleep study if either are needed. If it's just anxiety the doctor can help with that too.

It may be as simple as learning how to manage your anxiety.
Go to you tube and search for “Mindfulness breathing Guided meditation 10 minutes “
This is important to know with Anxiety because it relaxes your mind, body, breathing and the heart rate slows and mine gets more regular. Do this often.
There are many great meditations on you tube for anxiety, sleep, etc.
I pop in earbuds, lay down and listen.
Our mind and body need to de stress because too much anxiety causes adrenaline to be released and that can cause rapid heart rate, skipped beats.
So, visit your doctor and practice ways to relax. Counseling for anxiety helps too.
Youll be fine

As an 18 year old in a similar situation, I would bet money on it being an anxiety related issue. It never hurts to get everything checked out by a doctor, but if that all comes back clear I would have to say it is definitely anxiety. Chronic stress can really effect your body in so many more ways than we even realize. It took me a while before I started to realize how badly stress was making me feel. I now know that when I start to feel my heart pounding, panic feelings etc it is just because of anxiety and I am ok. Even when you are not stressing over anything specific, I chronic stress can make these episodes appear at times when you don't even understand why you are having an episode. Forcing yourself to think positive thoughts is a good way to remind yourself its just your anxiety and it cant really hurt you even though you feel like dying. I wouldn't be concerned its sleep apnea or anything like that, I would go about treating it as anxiety. I hope this all clears up for you. Stay positive and stay strong, my prayers are with you!
