hello everyone. I am posting here because I don't know what else to do and I would really love everyone's opinion on this. so im 20 years old & a few months back, in January, I was just getting over an ear infection and a cold and so my ears had been stuffed up for a little while, specifically my right ear because that's where I had the infection. I was pretty much over the cold, but my ear was still stuffed. out of nowhere I was laying down and the room started spinning, and i was TERRIFIED. I thought i was going to faint and almost went to the ER but I just decided to stay in bed and see if it got better and have my boyfriend take me to the dr in the morning. it didn't improve all through the night I would get vertigo for about 30 seconds every time i moved my head up or down or looked from side to side. it was so awful. this lasted for about 3 days. Let me also say that I have severe anxiety and health anxiety so i was really freaking out. I googled all my symptoms and menieres kept coming up, and I began to convince myself that's what I had. I went to the ENT and they checked my hearing and looked at my ears and said everything was good and that it was probably just BPPV. I want to also mention that i do have tinnitus randomly that will last for a few seconds and just comes and goes maybe every few days, which i have not found a cause for, but could be related to my TMJ. So I am still completely convinced that i have menieres because I have tinnitus, my ear had a full feeling, and I had vertigo. I told all this to my doctor and he said it wasnt that, but I CANNOT stop worrying all the time. (btw the vertigo has not happened since) i'm so sorry this was so long, if you are still reading please give me your thoughts if you have menieres or know about it. should i get more testing done? I just want to feel normal again! thanks so much.

Let me just say I know exactly how you feel, my first episode of vertigo was in 2014 and after going to the ER I was diagnosed with BPPV. I still to this day have symptoms but since then have been to an ENT who doesn't think I have MD because I don't have any hearing loss. But I have fullness and tinnitus that comes and goes along with some feeling of being off balance. I had another vertigo episode back in October of this year that sent me to the ER and once again was diagnosed with BPPV. Even though I haven't offically been diagnosed with MD my ENT gave me a pamphlet on MD and recommend a low sodium diet (which to this day still makes no since to me). I've learned to cope with the ups and downs that come along with whatever I have. I still to this day wonder if a person can have MD without the hearing loss. So like I said I know exactly how you feel. I really hope you get some answers because sitting around constantly thinking about it is no fun at all. Please keep us posted.

Forgot to say that not to long after my first episode in 2014 my GP diagnosed me with labyrinthitis so maybe that's something to look at too.

wow, i'm sorry you've been going through this for so long without a definitive answer, I hope you get everything figured out. I appreciate your response and taking the time to read! I'll try not to stress about it too much and just see what happens

Hi peach, if your ear fullness and hearing is ok now I would say you were getting over an ear infection and BPPV. With Meniere’s it gets progressively worse and hearing would be impaired. I’d say keep an eye on it and if it happens again randomly then go back to your ent and discuss. Perhaps keep a diary when your symptoms are bad. I hope for your sake it isn’t Ménière’s but try not to worry as stress makes it worse.

I feel what you are going through as I am going through the same thing as you right now. My started in 2007 and it when away until 2015, where I had one vertigo attack after waking up from sleeping and following by light headed and off balance. I saw my GP who refer me to ENT and MRI, CT scan and 3 other tests in the END office, I was told I have BPPV. My doctor put me high blood pleasure pills as me BP was really high and I started experience a bit of dizzy spells every now and then until march this year where started getting vertigo with head movements but the vertigo only last for about 10-15 seconds but I was left with imbalance for while but i'm ok now. I have never taken any medications. I did experience some ear fullness in my left but i'm wondering if that was related to previous flight I had before the vertigo and everyone in my house was going through a really bad cold and wondering if that was a factor as I got it but didn't feel like it was a full blown cold. I did ear test after my last vertigo and it was same as it was in 2015 so I think it is BPPV but I can't stop wondering if it is also MD. All I can say is the just take it one day at a time and I am sure time will tell. And I also I have appointment to see a different END for a second opinion.

If you have TMJ its probably not mennieres. If you have no more vertigo or symptoms consider yourself lucky....dont look for problems...randon tinnitus can be from many things loud music, noise at work etc etc.....relax and enjoy life id say its pretty clear you don't have it
