I can't dig myself out of depression

I am 43 years old, remarried, with 4 kids. I have been a nurse for 21 years in the ER and ICUs. I was born with a congenital defect that causes severe muscle and bone atrophy in my right leg. I have also had arthritis in my right knee and hip since I was 8 years old. I have no good relations with my extended family. A very weak relationship with my father. My mother live 18 hours away. my wife and I have been becoming more distant every day. no relations in months. my kids are good. and very self sufficient. All this makes me depressed. I want to quit. I hurt every day. The changes in pain medicine regulations is not allowing me to physically function anymore. I had to retire. I just want to end the pain. the physical and emotional.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. It must be very difficult.
also have you ever been to or considered speaking with a counselor who could help you manage this.?
so many families have broken relationships within them. Unfortunately it is very common.
When that is the situation, you have to focus on yourself, your kids and your relationship with your wife.everybody else will have to wait for now. No matter what the circumstances are, your children need you., And I’m sure they love you very much. Even if they seem self-sufficient, they are still children and need their parents.
would your wife ever consider going to couples counseling with you? It would be great if she did.
you could even do it online virtually!
if she won’t go, then you can go yourself.
You need support right now. It’s very difficult to deal with depression alone.
A therapist can talk with you and help you find some solutions so that you can have some peace and joy in your life.
your Life is important even if you don’t feel that way right now. But you can feel better. You can find counselors online, even at churches, community programs, etc. There’s lots of help out there! you might even find someone that could help you with your pain issue. The more people you talk to, the more chance that you will get the help you need.
have you’ve been to a pain clinic?there must be some answers out there so that you can feel physically better.
dont give up. Just take one day at a time. Your children need and want their father in their lives. ❤
