I can’t do this anymore

i am so exhausted from this perimenopause hell! im only going on 44 years old in feb, I started perimenopause when i was 38. My worst side effect by far is the disabling nausea! It isnt just one week out of the month, it is at least 25 days out of the month.....it starts as soon as i wake up until i go to bed and i cant take it anymore! It feels just like morning sickness on steroids. Its really bad the week before my period, the week of my period and even a few days after my period, i get a little break then the sickness is back for the whole week of ovulation. Ive tried everything to relieve this torture: antidepressants, birth control, progesterone, vitamins, diet change....everything!! I am just exhausted with it! Ive lost so much weight. Why do we have to go through this? i have other symptoms like headaches, dizziness, loss of taste, anxiety, tiredness, feeling very cold and hot flashes, but the nausea is awful. Just need to vent and know im not alone

Hi Brandy,
Have you tried giving up all gluten? My daughter had many of these issues you describe and after giving up gluten she fixed the problems. People don't realize unless you read every label that they put gluten in things you wouldn't even expect. Sometimes she eats something by accident with gluten and pays for it dearly for days.

i was tested for celiac disease which would show if i had issues with gluten and it turned out fine, i even was tested for food sensitivity and allergies but everything was fine 😦

Is there a reason you are not trying HRT? It sorted my numerous digestive symptoms out immediately which made a massive difference to my ability to cope with the other stuff (ectopic heartbeats, aches and pains, fatigue, insomnia, feeling constantly cold, etc). Most of those are now greatly improved too even though I still don't think we have the dose right.

To be honest im afraid of hrt because of the risk of cancer, also the dr did say once hrt would be stopped symptoms could easily return. I dont want to have a few good years again just to have it taken away. I just wish we didnt have to go through this at all! It would be nice if i could wake up one morning and the hell would be gone just as fast as it happened!

Hi sorry for late reply, I haven't been on here much. Hopefully you realise that the increased cancer risk from HRT is much smaller than many lifestyle choices like drinking a glass of wine a day. Personally I would rather live with a tiny increased risk - and I have stopped drinking alcohol - than not live because I feel so rubbish all I can do is lie on the sofa miserable.
Also as I understand it there is no real evidence that taking it long-term is a bad thing. Estrogen helps to protect against dementia, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.

Hi Sandeep, I have estrogen patches and micronised progesterone tablets.

Also, HRT does not work for many women. It's not a miracle cure across the board. From some women, it works, and that's great, but it shouldn't be pushed as being "the treatment option".

i did try birth control pills and just plain progesterone and for months i felt like i was dying even more than i do now so i dont think hormones are the answer for me. I just wish it would ease up so i can live somewhat of a normal life. I just dont want to get out of bed anymore and working on top of it just makes it all the more unbearable

i wish i could take them to make things better but just the progesterone alone almost killed me it felt like. I couldnt stop throwing up around my periods when i was on it! Me and hormones dont mix sadly
