I didn't open up when I should have--- I think???

Posted , 3 users are following.

I told my doctor about Depression and Anxiety. I also mentioned Suicidality. I was immediately prescribed 25 mg Sertraline.

I struggle with so much more such as Binge Eating Disorder, PTSD (Verbal/Emotional Abuse & Neglect), OCD, Intrusive Thoughts, Paranoia, Social Phobia and even Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder??

PTSD bothers me a lot. As does Binge Eating Disorder. Those are daily concerns.

OCD and Intrusive Thoughts go hand in hand and bother quite often as well.

Paranoia bothers me just as much, if not more.

Social Phobia of course only kicks in when I think about partaking in Social Events or when I have to leave the house and such.

Maladaptive Daydreaming is also a daily occurrence.

Should i have mentioned all of this beforehand? It was really stressful and so sudden. I wasn't expecting to open up.

Would the dosage had been affected if i had told them more about what I'm suffering ?!???

Hi Jade, I think another trip to you GP is needed, perhaps book a double appointment so your not rushed for time and tell them everything,  I specially the paranoia. Hopefully your GP may refer you to a psychiatrist, CBT or something else.

Sorry can't advise much more but it sounds as though you need proper help.

If you're worried I would speak to the dr again but I think they would have put you on a low starting dose because you mentioned you think about suicide (I assume that's what you meant).

This drug can sometimes make you worse at first and can make your suicidal thoughts worse. That doesn't always happen but I imagine they would t give you any higher to start off with because if you start on a low does and work up your less likely to have side effects like that and if you do have them they wouldn't be as bad as a higher dose and they could change medication easier if it really doesn't work out.

I'm not a doctor but it sounds like that dose is a good way to start for you. Once it settles you can go up.
