I didn't take my Sertraline for 2 days arghhhh

So yesterday I'm sat at work then bam it hit me. Anxiety, burning back, slightly shaking and wanting to go home and cry. Negative thoughts come rushing in.

First thing I did was text my family for support, also I kept telling myself it's anxiety, you're a good person, think positive thoughts. After about 15 minutes I decided to keep myself really busy at work. At the same time I was getting words of support from my family which helped so much. This all started around 10 am, and then around 12, I was fine again and managed to get on with my day. I came home did my house work, cooked etc. Then the minute I sat down Anxiety came back. I felt very cold and shaky, wanted to cry but I just couldn't. That made me feel worst. After speaking to my partner and having a cuddles with the family, I felt so much better. Went to bed and slept but only slept 5 instead of my usual 8 hours. Some sleep is better than none I tell myself. This morning the anxiety came back but not as strong, I'm battling to keep it away with CBT. I'm wondering how long it will take before it settles back down again?

I've been at my new job for a few months, so can't afford to lose this. I feel very pressured at the moment. Also just moved into a new house, partner made redundant, my Mum isn't well, and various other things happening. I've been managing but I didn't take my tablets for 2 days and it's now gone wrong. Thank god for my family and friends and praying x

Bless you. Hang in there. Sounds like you know where you can read some helpful bits of gospel?

      Hi Phil,

Thanks for your reply. I find praying really does help. It calms me down. I read psalm 23, 91, and 141.

I also try and go for walks and do a dance class once a week to help.

Sometimes we forget to take our meds, I just hope now I'm back on track taking them, my anxiety will calm down.

      God bless x

Check with your Dr before you stop taking your pills. Meditation helps, hang in there

Thanks Lorraine,I just forgot to take them for 2 days. I hope that now I'm back on track taking them that the anxiety calms again.

I was in a really great place before that. Things were calmer. I need to make sure I keep meds going. God bless x

Hi, last week I missed two days of sertraline too (I'm on 100mg), and it hit me hard too. Headaches, dizzy, tired, mood swings, derealisation. It took a few days but I returned to "normal" after taking my dose correctly for a few days. Keep taking it, set alarms to remind you, you will be okay. Good luck x

Thank you EB, it can be so scary. Hope to be back to normal in a few days. X

Hi Hope, you’ll be fine. Just continue taking your meds and try not to forget it again, as the med needs to have a buildup of a certain level in your system. If you’ve missed a dose within 3 hours, you can still take it late. But if the time you realized that you’ve missed your dose is closer to your next dose, then wait until the usual time to take your next dose. To help me not forget, I take my med the first thing when I wake up, be it 5am or 7:30am. Also, I know a lot is going on for you right now but try not to worry about them too much or get stressed. Try to think positive – you do have a job so that’s much better than not having one, since your partner is made redundant. You’ll be fine. It will all work out in the end. Take care. I wll pray for you. XX.

Yes, don't think and worry. Take it an hour at a time, one small thing or task so you don't overwhelmed yourself. I have been exactly where you're at and I could totally relate.

      God bless us. smile
