not been out my house in 4 years not even a joke am a complete mess but recently been coming off the fluoxetine which ave been on for 3 years which did nothing for me maybe helped a little but ave been able to go into my back yard play with my dogs for the last two weeks which seems to be because am coming of fluoxetine but am getting horrible side effects from coming off at the same time to move onto a new drug called mirtazapine and am terrified should i just come off the drugs completely and forget about mirt because the terrifying stories on this web page about mirtazapine side effects and the worst part is coming off mirtazapine is supposed be hell so why should i both to go on such a terrible drug if it's just going to be much worse than the fluoxetine side effects to come on and off.  please anyone her has been on mirt share your story about being on it and off is taking half the drug make me worse than taking full true cause when i take pills i tend to lower the actual dose before hand but with this drug seems its worse case to do that

Hi every drug has side effects even the humble aspirin.  Most of them are very minor and are the common ones.  You would be very unlucky to get a more serious one and even if you did it wouldn't harm you as all the drugs doctors prescribe have been through rigorous testing before being allowed to be used on people.

Also every drug affects people differently so there is no way of knowing in advance what will cause really bad withdrawal symptoms and what won't. Normally if you withdraw very slowly under a doctors care the withdrawals will be minimised.

In order to get better you have to take the drugs as prescribed by the doctor.  You might as well take none if you are not going to do this as they won't help you.  If the new meds don't start helping after a couple of months go back to the doctors and ask for another change or an increase.  Hopefully you will find one which helps you but it can take time and perseverance.  x
