I don't know what is wrong with me.......

For the past 2 years I have been dizzy all day everyday and this dizziness is while I am standing , sitting or walking. No matter if I am taking a shower or cooking or even doing dishes the dizziness is constant. I went to 2 ear doctors and have ruled out menieres disease and vertigo . I also had an MRI done a month ago and nothing was found. My husband seems to think I have panic/anxiety attacks cause I have all the symptoms as well as I could be going through perimenopause as I am going on 44 years old. I don't want to have to keep putting a lot of money out for tests and they can't find anything. I hope someone out there has these same symptoms and has been diagnosed so maybe I can get an idea of what I am going through .

Thank You

Hi, Michelemuffin:  Sweetie, google TMJ...Temperal Mendibular Joint Disfunction syndrom...I have that, and it acts up once in a while...God to the DENTIST, not a regular doctor and get tested if you haven't already...dizzness is the main symptom...it's a nasty thing to have, but very treatable...hope this helps...

Thanks carole28488 for the quick response. Did you have the same symptoms as me and for how long ? Do you have anxiety as well ?

Also you said dizziness is the main symptom but what other symptoms did you have ? I don't have jaw or joint pain either. I am taking high blood pressure meds too. After looking at all the TMJ symptoms the only ones I have is ringing in ear, dizziness, an occasional migraine headache . Please respond . Thanks

Yes, sweetie:  I grind my teeth due to anxiety, which I have had my entire life.  It hurts more in the morning, and after eating.  Dizziness was my worst symptom with TMJ...Please rule that out, and if it turns out you  don't have it, we'll look at other possibilities....TMJ is easy to fix..You will be fitted with a plastic mouth guard to keep you from grinding your teeth...it is a little hard to get used to, but you should wear it each night before you go to bed, and at times when the dizziness begins, or a headache, too....I hope this helps...please keep me informed...hugs.

Hi, I have anxiety and for a month constantly I felt dizzy and what felt like pressure in my head, I was able to stand and do things like wash the pots however I couldn't get rid of the dizziness feeling. I also have ringing in my ears at first I thought I had developed it from listening to earphones to loud but that was a symptom of my anxiety and that month I had a major stress situation that affected me. I've since been to the doctor and got help and have been able to stop it, it comes back now and again but I'm genuinely better now. I'm not a doctor so can not say that you have anxiety or anything else for that matter, is there anything your going through right now that could cause you some anxiety?

I hope this helps but I would suggest doing your research and seeking professional advice smile good luck

Thanks for the response. I have googled my symptoms and it always leads back to anxiety . the only thing I have going on in my life is not knowing what's wrong with me cause when I have the symptoms I always feel like I am gonna die at that time so it's very scary for me. I hope to get to the bottom of whats going on so I can live a normal life.

You say you are dizzy all the time.  You also say your husband thinks you have panic/anxiety attacks.   Surely you know whether you do or not.   I have had them, and I knew for sure!  Eg heavy breathing.

These two disorders may be unrelated.

You say you sometimes feel you are going to die.  I suspect that is during a panic attack ?   That is typical of a panic attack.   Your body is tricking you. You are not going to die.

About the dizziness,  it might be a side effect of a drug you are taking - eg the BP medication.

We are trying to think of every scenario of where my dizziness is coming from. I have all the symptoms of anxiety so most likely do have it but haven't been to doctor to diagnose it. Yes the death feeling is during an attack.

Just to add to that:  If you ARE having panic attacks you need to get treatment for them.  Some people favour talking therapy; others medication.   See a doctor.

Peri menaoause has many of the symptoms you noted. Menapause changes your body. Anxiety is so hard to live with and will be a part of all these hormone changes.tmj, eye issues especially optic nerve, blood pressure, poor diet, how you sleep, ear issues, sinus and hormone changes, lack of movement, dehydration, improper breathing techniques all can make you dizzy and its damn scary being dizzy. You arent making it up at all and clearly anxiety plays a role as well. Everyone is so quick to say its mental but there are physical reasons that make you dizzy. Its cause and effect but a slow go to find which ailments are the cause. You seem to have ruled out the ears and sinus so far. See an opthamologist and get a thourough eye exam now and note you are dizzy a lot. I lived this. No one knew and i had no clue. I had optic nueritis and now had issues with the optic nerve..never had a clue. It takes years to show itself. Also have tmj but dentist made a soft splint for me to sleep in to fix that. In menapause now and realize its hard on the body. Changed my diet to a heart diet because blood pressure was yo yo ing. I havent went to an endocrinologist yet..i do hate doctors as they seem to always find things wrong. But thats my wrong im just tired of being diagnosed and then they barely know if they can fix it, or want to do surgeries. Not trying to be pessimist but dizzy is a terrible feeling and its real..very real and it has a cause aside from anxiety. Yes it is a part if anxiety but what you are describing i can relate too. My whole mess of dizzy started around your age and a couple of my friends went through similiar stories so without a doubt hormones are involved in all this but please check your eyes with an opthamologist as well. Thats just one dr visit and have them do a peripheral vision test just pressing a button looking at lights takes three minutes and worth it to rule out. No offense to men or male doctors but if they were dizzy believe me it would be treated a lot differently. Aside from the opthamologist which is a must, a dentist can tell you if you have tmj in about two minutes and a blood pressure machine can tell you if you yo yo blood pressure. Simple things but imoortant. An endocrinologist does all the hormone tests by the way and they would absolutely know the cause and effect of hormone changes. Dont let anyone tell you its all mental, not when it comes to being that dizzy. Light headed when anxious is VERY different then living dizzy daily.

Thanks Lisa for all this information cause it is definitely things you mentioned that I never thought to look into. I did see an eye Dr but didn't get a thorough exam but will make an appt to do that. Yes dizziness is tough to deal with everyday and I am frustrated a lot cause I just want to be normal like I use to cause now I can't work because of this and my husband, bless his heart , is very understanding and trying his best to get to the bottom of this issue so I can get better. I hope to come to a conclusion soon. Take care.

pre menopause sounds like it can mess with your hormones and cause dizziness. To feel it constantly all the time has got to be miserable, sorry you feel that way. I too feel dizziness and pressure not constant but a lot. Try a netti pot combined with a 2 week flonase. It did help my sinuses a little, and help with pressure. ALso look to your environment for hidden molds. allergies, air purifier ect. check your beds, mattresses and make sure no bed bugs or anything. Not saying any of this is the problem but it doesnt' hurt to be cautious of everything. Change your diet to see if it is causing any tummy troubles, eat more ginger. if you are still feeling dizzy, can a dr treat it with some Meclizine, maybe talk with your dr about that and see if it can help you.? I hope you feel better
