I don't know what's going on down there, please help!

A few days ago I started noticing some soreness around my clitoris, then some soreness on my labia and sometimes in my vagina and around my anus. The pain was never unbearable or even bad enough to take pain-killers, but it was definitely noticeable and something I haven't felt before. I have been under a lot of stress lately, and I am an anxious person, which has made things a lot worse. I am going in for my first pap smear in a few weeks, and part of me is scared that I could have herpes, despite never having symptoms before (like I said, I'm an anxious person). I am in a long distance relationship and haven't had sex in almost a year, however when we were together we had unprotected sex (he said he had been tested for STDs after his somewhat recent breakup), and I have had unprotected oral sex in the past. I know that stress can play a role in vaginal health, but I'm scared the soreness down there could be from an STD. Does anyone know what could cause this, or if there's anything wrong in these photos? For some context, I haven't been the most gentle with wiping on my anus recently (as well as when I cleaned it for the picture), so had I not been experiencing any other pain I probably wouldn't have paid it much mind, but does it look like anything else is wrong with it?
Thank you.

the area is just kind of tender, it doesn't burn and it doesn't feel like any open wounds. The pain is basically gone now, id say that it lasted about 3-4 days

thrush can cause soreness and inflammation of vagina. do u have any discharge or itching? ur anus looks normal is usually red like that 😃 the redness in vagina can be bc of infections so best to get some std tests (chlamydia etc) and a thrush test. no sores so doesnt point to herpes out of everything else. just see a doctor 😃

It wasn't super itchy, maybe a little but i avoided scratching it because i was scared it was herpes. the pain is basically gone now, it lasted about 3-4 days. I am going to be seeing my doctor is about two weeks, so ill talk about it with her then

hi! I had something very similar back in december, still do but symptoms are not as intense after steroid cream use prescribed by my doctor. After multiple doctors visits (2 gynos) I finally got a biopsy of the area and it came back as a lichenoid inflammation. I'm finally seeing a dermatologist for it in about a week as gynocologists are not very familiar with it at all and don't offer the best guidance on it. They'll throw steroid creams at you and call it a day. It'll typically sting when flared up for a few hours and anything at this rate is causing flare ups. Avoid soap and anything from falling down there till you see a doc as it can cause further irritation. I try to wash all my body parts away from that area and wash my hair separately to avoid a really bad flare up. From what I've read certain systemic meds can cause an outbreak which is how I believe mine started and from that point on its pretty recurrent but I've also read most cases go away within 2 years and vulval can take a little longer due to the mucus membranes being stubborn. I hope this helps! Also, I had soreness at first that went away within a week too.
