I don't think they're working :(

Been on 150mg for 3 months now. Still having bad days with anger and depression. I will admit that there have been cases in the past few weeks where I've missed a dose. This is because I am starting to lose faith in them.

My appetite is shot. Nothing looks appetising anymore. I'm tired a lot. I sleep a lot. I go to bed around 3-4am and wake around 11am. Then I'll probably sleep at 3pm until 6pm again. And then stay awake until 4am.

Messed up sleep pattern. I don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that I've missed doses. Other day I missed 2 days. Before that I missed a day. So it's been up and down.

In that time my anxiety is sky high. I'm convinced I have cancer and I'm starting to get OCD about checking and worrying. Then I'm convinced I have a heart problem. I get agitated and angry a lot more recently.

I'm hoping it's because of the up and down with skipping doses but I just feel so horrible sad It sucks because there was a point where my sleep pattern was normal and I was happy with these meds.

I've had very brief thoughts of suicide and self harm today but only minor and were easily controllable. Don't worry, I'm not in any sort of danger. I'm just concerned that I've had these thoughts again.

Maybe you should think about talking to a psychiatrist or trying CBT therapy, both of these ideas may be real good for you!!

You sound just  like just me  a couple years ago and my doctor put me on a mood stabilizer with celexa.  It helped so much!  Sadly I started getting scared on the mood stabilizer risperidone or risperdal because I read it could lower seizure threshold in someone that has seizures and I've had a few so Just couldn't relax.  I worry about it too on sertraline but my doctor has reassured me it's less of a risk then risperdal.

    Hi James,

Many of us out here listening.

So sorry you are still struggling.

Has anyone suggested you try CBD oil?

I know it greatly helps mood and anger.

I started talking to a counselor and it was helpful, but I know it’s not for everyone.

Compared to before you took the med, are you having good days? If not I suggest you go back to your doctor for a med adjustment.

And re sleep, I too got outa wack, started sleeping more in the day, but it only made me feel worse. I sucked it up and forced myself to stay awake until evening, after a couple days I was back on track.  Being awake at night is depressing inits self, so try hard to get back on track James.

Wish I could offer more help. Hang in there. You will find your way. Let us know how you’re doing next week.

Sleep well tonight. - x kat

    Hi

I'm not a doctor but if I was in your shoes I would:

Return to GP and request increase to 200mg.

Also ask about beta blocker (I take propranolol, takes the edge of anxiety feelings).

Look into CBT therapy.  OCD is closely related to anxiety, and is one of the easiest things to treat, I've been told by my therapist.

Research CBD oil - the "big new thing", seems to be working for me even if it's placebo effect.

Be very careful not to miss any doses, and try to take at the same time every day.

Try to regulate your sleeping pattern.  Eg Rise at 8am, nap 2pm to 3pm (set the alarm), retire at 11pm.  No screens before sleep; book, music, meditation only.

Don't stress if everything goes pear-shaped, none of this is your fault.  Accept it and try to move forward, tomorrow is another day.

Give this strict routine another good 4 weeks.  If you still feel no better then you may need to change medication.  There are others out there.

Sounds like I'm preaching at you, I am only doing this because I've been there and I'm coming out the other side.
