Hi everyone!

Okay so, I've had anxiety for a really long time and I know my symptoms, but for the last couple of days I feel like I cant breathe. Its not just "cant take a deep breath" but my breathing gets so bad it gets to the point where I feel like I will faint for the lack of oxygen. My vision gets blurred and i get weird butterflies feeling in chest.. I really dont know what to do, I feel like im going crazy. It keeps me awake in bed.. Could this be a real problem or is it just my damn anxiety again?! Help!

    My anxiety symptom change often I get used to something and boom I get a brand new one. Breathing is one I have had in the past and still get time to time and it can last all day or days. I think I became hyper aware of my breathing this made it that much worse I think we take in to much  oxygen. anxiety sucks and so many people have the breathing symptom just try to work out I find sometimes a 30 walk helps me for the rest of the day. I know you feel you can't breath now how could you exercise but it does give me some relief

    Hi Ella, it sounds like anxiety. It can make you breathe much faster and in turn the lack of oxygen can make your vision blur. You need to take long deep breaths to get the oxygen flowing again when this happens and that should also lower your heart rate. As someone who is suffering badly too right now, I’m having to do the same.

    Omg I’ve just come across this whilst googling for a solution, I have exactly the same! Also keeping me awake in b d right now and has got massively worse than usual this week. It’s defo anxiety related - the more I concentrate on it the worse it gets. I’ve been to my doctor to check it’s not asthma or anything and she just gave me breathing exercises, they don’t really work. I do find breathing through my nose sometimes helps, I’m able to fill my lungs and it’s slightly calming but it’s soon overtaken by the urge to try and force a yawn. Also found that lying on my left hand side seems to open my lungs and enable me to breath slightly easier - Although this could just be me convincing myself it works so that it does, if you know what I mean.

    Your problem may be caused by Anxiety or you may have a viral infection. Do you feel your nose is blocked ?

    Contact your GP Surgery and explain your breathlessness.

    Try these from your medical centre ;

    Pregabalin, venlafaxine, and if your really honoured vallium (diazepam). Please let me know how you get on!
