Hi you are obviously not suited to Ativan so don't take any more.Go back to your doctor and tell him how you feel. Also benzos are not a good drug to be on unless used very sparingly.Ask to be referred to a therapist to help you with your anxiety.

First, it's important to know that we are not our thoughts.  Our thoughts are the product of our environment.  Our thoughts are created by things we read, things we hear, things we see in person/on tv/in passing.  We have no control over our thoughts.  They are simply passing clouds.  It is only when we choose to give importance to a thought that we can then be consumed by them.

What you are describing sounds like an intrusive thought.  It is a common symptom in anxiety and also OCD.  Intrusive thoughts tend to be around things we find disturbing.  Common thoughts may be: the fear of harming a loved one, a stranger, or even a pet, the fear of inappropriate sexual behavior, thoughts that go strongly against our religion, even for some the fear that they may be homosexual.  One thing these thoughts all have in common is that they are egodystonic, meaning they go against what we truly want and who we truly are.  The fact that you are troubled by a thought is a good indicator that the thought does not represent who you truly are.

So i shouldnt be scared of my thoughts? My thoughts can't make me do actions can they? I should just stop worrying.

It's best to consult with your doctor.  But, generally speaking, intrusive thoughts are harmless.  Mentally, they are passing clouds.  They are cars passing by on the highway.  Nothing more.  You have no control over what comes by, you only control your reaction to it.  There are many videos on youtube about "Intrusive thoughts" that will go into detail about the proper way to deal with them.  Check them out.
