I feel like my mind is floating out of my body when out in public, like I'm not grounded to myself

Its been my fith day on Arrpw-Sertraline, Ive taken a whole pill 50mg for each day. My third day I felt the side effects, nausea, migraine, pale and lack of energy. As soon as I returned home, I went to lay down and sleep. Once I forced myself up I took some 2 Nurofen (Zavance) and 2 ibuprofen to help my migraine. I then had a feed and drunk liquids. i felt better after all that.

Now being on my fith day I feel ok, no major changes with my mood as yet. Hopefull that I will pick up but rather wanting to feel more grounded in myself. I will continue to writes my progress in this discussion.

Thank you smile

Hi, I hope sertraline works for you. Due to the nausea which I had for the entire time taking them, I lost 30 lbs. but I didn't have any stomach issues when I did eat something. Today is day three without taking and I have to say my head is clearer. I was really tired yesterday and slept 15 hrs - crazy Ik. My anxiety in the morning is low, I wanted to get out of bed. But I'm thinking this just isn't the pill for me. I've always prayed, but when I was at my lowest, where I thought, please just take me or fix me - this is when I felt God's work beginning in me. I hope this info helps you, and all of us who have dep and anxiety.

    Hi there,

in the UK Nurofen and ibuprofen are the same thing, apart from one is branded and occasionally has caffeine in it etc to inc. speed of onset...just don't want you to OD on ibuprofen is all ! Also, too much NSAID ( non-steroidals, such as ibuprofen is not good for your stomach either )....check the active ingedients on the packet before you take any more...

It's perfectly natural when you start taking these meds to get some initial side effects in first week or two. Most people find they will then settle down, unless they alter your dose in which case takes a bit longer ( some people take 100mg of sertraline or higher )...don't worry, give 50mg a fair sho, 3/4 weeks to start to notice a positive effect, if by 6 weeks nothing, then I expect you will have been back to see your physician by then anyway, they should keep an eye on you for the first month or two. Sertraline has more than one dose, also not every AD suits ervyone, and some people need to change, and they will want to keep and eye on you until you are settled and see that there are positive effects....

Until then I am afraid it's a case of hunkering down and riding the wave, they work on inc. levels of serotonin, about 20 % of serotonin receptors are in the brain, but 80% are in the intestines thus why so many people get GI related side effects of nausea etc....the same is true when people come to taper the dose down at the end when they want to stop it.

Hope you see some positive effects soon...
