I feel like this will never get better

Not ganna make this to long because most of u that had this will probably know. I need answers( someone plz help me) I’m on day 2 had no bowel movement and I know/feel like I could then the pain is just so bad, feels like I’m getting stabbed with a knife.  I even ate regular food and my stool soften and some mirlax and still cannot go. I know there is cloth up in my butt. When does that come out? After first bowel movement? Can I pull it out if I get my fingers up there? I know that is what is making this harder to let gas go. I’m just loaded with gas. Is it normal if I still don’t go to the bathroom on day 3?

I was so scared to have a bm after my surgery as well. I had surgery almost 3 weeks ago and I'm completely pain free and all healed. On day 2 all I did was take 2 colace and ate a normal diet. Day 3 I took milk of magnesia, metamucil, and miralax and drank castor oil and had a painless bowel movement. The castor oil works wonders. Takes a few hours to work and makes your stomach a little crampy but you will have a soft bm for sure. I took castor oil alone on day 4 and it worked just as well. Now I just take metamucil daily and drink 3 liters of water a day and have had no issues.

Well that is awesome for you. I think you are the first person that every said the first bowel movement was not painful. I mean I was screaming! But that’s good news , maybe I’ll heal faster   I’m on day 5 and feel a lot better (way better) but def still a good amount of pain. And I haven’t had a bm in a day and a half, I had my first and 2nd 4 hours apart. The milk of magnesia, I think I took to much of it because my first bowel movement would not stop and the worst pain I ever been threw but glad to hear a positive story. It’s pretty much all negative

Jason u got to be feeling some relief today right? I def am ! Hope u are also. I mean def still some pain. But all I know is we made it past the first bowel movement and that was 100 percent the worst. Someone on this site said they had no pain during the bowel movement, he/or she must want ppl to get surgery lol   They just got very very very lucky

Definitely doing better today. I honestly think I’m just in a different boat then most.. I didn’t put the entire story out there as there is enough already on this site to really freak people out. I had an apt with a new surgeon today because had some issues with my original surgeon. I actually had the surgery, then had to go to the ER two days later for the gauze and then had to have the surgery AGAIN on what should have been my 5th day or recovery. Turns out I am have excessive amounts of swelling and pain due to a staple hemrroidectomy that I had done 10 years ago so this recovery might be a little slower and different than most..

Glad to hear you are doing much better!

Oh that’s crazy.  Is that ur surgeon fault?  And just always remember we definitely/ even if we ain’t on same level/ we both got the worst part out of the way! The first bm!!!  U got this. Just keep thinking about what u had to go threw that day / day of 1stbm. That’s all I keep thinking about and  I tell myself, there is no other pain that can be then that, this pain is nothing to that. Lol still hurts like 8 out of 10 but the first bm was 15 out of 10😂 u got it! And thanks

I don’t know if it was his fault or just that my case was so severe and with the previous surgery.. no way to know for sure. Either way, this new surgeon seems to really know his stuff and sent me to a compound pharmacy for a steroid pain killer cream which he thinks should have me feeling much better in a week.. fingers crossed!!

Hey hope u feeling a little better today. Did u end up getting the pain cream? If yes how is it working. Does it help relief some pain right away Or is  it ganna take awhile before it startsworking?

Hey, doing a little better today. Finally able to get up and walk to the kitchen and stand for a bit before having to

Lay back down. The cream isn’t doing much for the pain it’s more to target the swelling I still have. I’ve noticed a little progress so hopefully this will be what I need! Hope you are progressing also!

Oh that makes sence with the cream, and good to hear , yea def making some progress. Just can’t have a bm haven’t had one since sat night😂! A few spots/ flakes of 💩 come out, mornings are pretty tough with pain. But after I take my pain meds feel better for the day

That’s good to hear! The small/ rabbit like 💩 seems to be a common issues that I’ve seen with almost everyone on here! (Same with me). Feels like I have a lot in me but only little bits come.. glad things are getting better, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!

Well I woke up and had to go/even thou I feel like I got to go every 10 min/ so the mornings are already pretty painful /uncomfortably, so went to the toilet omfg. It was the same pain as my first bowel movement on sat. So now I can deal with the pain That comes with this recovery but I don’t think I can handle having a bowel movement, I really hope it gets better having a bm , this is awful ! How is ur bm? Have u had one recently? Is that the worse part so far for u? Just trying to see

My BM’s have definitely not been as painful as the first.. after the BM is when I feel more swollen and like I’ve been cut with a razor blade! The first BM was definitely the most pain but the worst part for me personally is just the swelling/ pressure and having to lay in bed all these days not being able to walk! Are you taking stool softener and drinking LOTS of water? I’ve also started taking Metamucil- once in the morning and once in the evening. I think this is helping a lot with the BM’s...

Well at least u got the worst bm out the way that’s what I thought also, thought no way can my bms be as bad as the first, they are exactly are but this was first time I had full bm since sat😂, I’m taking colace 3 times a day, I mean the 💩 was not hard it, that’s what it don’t make sence. Maybe because it took me 4 days to have my ne t bm?  I’m not drinking a lot of water /a lot of Gatorade tho, there has to be something to slighten up the pain when I have bm, I’m on day 7 and def the pain eased up so much, if I don’t go to bathroom , are u on any diet? Like what have u been eating? Glad the Metamucil is helping u!!!

I’ve been very careful of what I eat since the surgery.. been eating LOTS of fruit, soups, and foods that are soft. I’ve been staying away from processed foods and dairy. And I’m not kidding.. probably drinking a gallon of water every day!

Well looks like there is my problem. Eating s**t e. But makes no sence because my 💩 is soft. But just hurts so fn bad push n out!! Same as first bm like I said. 😂

    • Posted

Yea def fn terrible    , sucks because if that Wasn’t as bad as it is I would be almost recovered just a little pain left. The BM makes it five times worse than it should be

Quick quest, it was a nightmare using the toilet yesterday, today was easier /still painful, not as much as yesterday. Do you think i keep drinking milk of magnesia or just want I know I have to go? Or should I take it everyday no matter what? I take the colace/stool softener 2 or 3 times a day but I guess that didn’t help to much /because what I went threw yesterday. How u feeling? Improving?

I’m definitely improving and hate to hear that for you! When I had this surgery, I also had a hernia surgery (which has been a side note and minor compared to this). But now I’m starting to have pain and swelling from the hernia repair. I guess that’s a good sign for me tho and maybe now my mind is easing off of my A** from the improvement back there. As far as the milk of magnesia, I honestly do not know. I recommended calling your surgeon and asking if you should still be taking it. The only this I can 100% suggest is Metamucil! Hope this start moving better for you!

Glad u are doing better!  I’m def ganna get the Metamucil in the am, I finally had a bm just a bit ago and didn’t make me scream and almost faint. I hope they stay like that! (Still hurt but can deal with it) not with the last few , though I was ganna faint 100 percent
