I finally have this licked! If you've suffered chronically, here's what to do...

OK, I struggled with BV for over a year.  I took antibiotics three times and tried every homeopathic treatment I could find (tea tree oil, probiotic supplement pills, probiotic suppositories, vitamin c suppositories, apple cider vinegar, you name it) and nothing worked for more than a day or two.  The antibiotics gave me relief for maybe a month and then it would come back.   My family doctor (two different ones, actually) didn't seem to know what else to try beyond the antibiotics.  Finally I ended up at a specialist and I was so lucky because she happens to be the only specialist of vaginal infections on the entire west coast or something!  She treated me once and I've been good for over 6 months.  Here's the magic formula:

1. antibiotic cream inserted vaginally for 7 nights.

2. After the week of antibiotics, insert one boric acid tablet (at night) vaginally, once per week.

3. Drink about 4 ounces of kombucha per day.  This is a fermented tea with probiotics. It's kind of expensive, but it works to keep your pH where it needs to be.

Now this is important.  I messed up too.  Once you've got a few months of the perfect V again, DON'T let up on the kombucha.  I quit doing the boric acid and everything was fine, but I got cocky and quit drinking the kombucha for a week and it came back.  I squared things away again without having to go back to the doc, but I will not make the same mistake again.

So, there you have it, ladies.  I'm not talking about a week of being cured.  This is over 6 months.  Do these three things and you'll be cured.  I'm so thankful I was able to see this specialist and she fixed me up lickity split!

Where is the kombucha sold? What brand is it. Also, I have boric acid suppositories. I will have to try this. I also have a vaginal probiotic I used a few times and it wasn’t working. I’ll have to try again, I hope it works! I’ve struggled with chronic BV almost 2 years now. It’s taking a major toll on me 😢 thanks

Not sure where you are but in California it’s in every supermarket, Target, Costco...

You have to do the prescription antibiotic cream first to knock down the bad bacteria. The boric acid and kombucha is to maintain the good bacteria.

I am In Florida. I will try the cream tonight and continue for one week right? And then Start the boric acid a few times in one week, and then drink 4oz of kimbucha each morning or night?

Not just over the counter antibiotic cream. You need a prescription. Then boric acid once a week and kombucha every day. I drink some in the morning and some at night.

Hi MissDonna. I dont hv bv thank goodness... But I hv systemic candida and I'm iffy about the Kombucha tea... I tried it once and my candida got worse??

Kombucha is more to keep the good bacteria present, but I think the boric acid helps with yeast.  My doc recommends 1-2/week on that.

In fact, Iv just checked again and it defn says one should be cautious if one has preexisting candida issues. I always thought it was good for candida... But not. Maybe it's good for balancing vaginal flora.

I’m 38 years old and have been struggling with BV since I was 17. It’s a horribly embarrassing problem and completely ruins self esteem and confidence. When I was young I had no idea how to combat it. The drs look at u like you’re filthy after you’re there a couple times with it, as if IT isn’t humiliating enough. There was no internet then, and no where to turn. As I got older and had more resources to look for cures and prevention, I realized different things work for different women and nothing that worked for everyone else worked for me! I finally, after spending years of recurring infections and more money than I can count found something that’s worked for me, and anyone else that suffered from BV that I led to it. And it was so simple and cheap. I got 30 boric acid suppositories from eBay for ten bucks, and a huge bag of baking soda from Sams Club. I washed my privates with baking soda, and used a boric acid suppository nightly. During this time I am also trying to eat yogurt with live cultures once daily and sometimes even took a drink of apple cider vinegar.  It worked so well that any time I develop a symptom I follow this regimen and it’s gone before it starts.  My oldest daughter also got BV regularly. This worked for her as well and also for a friend of mine who could not seem to get rid of it. I have told these forums for years reading what works for everyone else. I’ve never replied to anyone until now. Now I feel like I have something useful to say and I really hope that this works for someone else. It’s a pretty  Big deal because nothing ever worked for me.

Did you put the baking soda in your vagina or just washed your vulva with it?

I see you just washed... okay. Now how many nights did you have to insert the boric acid suppositories.
