I find exercise exacerbates the condition

I exercise regularly, pilates, yoga, tai chi, dance etc plus aqua aerobics and swimming and I find any form of friction makes my symptoms worse or brings the dreaded burning on. Swimming and aqua especially because of the chlorine in the water.

I have found using a specific barrier cream beforehand has helped and now use one from a high street chemist called Prepare Me that you put on before you exercise.  Then after exercise and showering one called Restore Me.  Is anyone else using these?  This brand do lots of other products like vaginal washes etc but I have not used these.

Hi Jayneejay thank-you for the recommendation I don't think I would be able to use the ovestin cream or ovules as I am taking vagifem which is also an oestrogen replacement.  When I was first diagnosed I was given ovestin cream but it only helped for a few days then stopped working.

I have your problem Linda. I get Hydromol from my docs as recommended by my dermatologist for friction. It is like vaseline you use it in the shower first of all. After shower I apply neat to the vagina and anal areas and this has alleviated the problem somewhat. I do this before abd after exercise. I however do not use chlorinated pools any longer as the chlorine plays havoc with my skin.

Hi Carmarie I will make a note of this and ask next time I am at the doctors.  Thank-you for the recommendation.

No beverly. I meant that I apply the Hydromol without wetting it. By neat I meant as it is.
