I got a word catheter inserted 2 days ago and I have some questions

Hello, I got a bartholin cyst last saturday and it quickly grew and turned painful so i went on monday to the ER where i got an incision and drainage. The following day, i had a fever and the pain persisted so on wednesday i went to the ER because it hurt a lot and felt swollen again. The abscess had grown again so i was given antibiotics and had to stay overnight at the hospital with an IV as I was taken in for surgery on Thursday for drainage and a word catheter. Ive had pain since then but its been manageable with pain relievers. However, today on Saturday I got my period and i was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to handle the word catheter while menstruating. Also, for anyone who has had the catheter, how do you know when the pain is dangerous? Today i randomly started feeling a sharp sting down there and im wondering if its normal. any advice is appreciated, thanks.

    Hi!

I just had this done 2 weeks ago and let me tell you it hurt like holy hell! My doc told me it was an easy procedure and it was except the needle to numb me and then the after math. I had a lot of pain and I thought there was something wrong with me , too, but its all normal. As for the cath it was a nightmare!! I couldn't wait for it to be taken out! Never been so happy to see a gyno ! lol

As for having your period I can't answer becuase I'm post menapausal for a few yrs now.

Give it some time, they say 2 to 6 weeks to heal.

    Good luck!
