I had a hip replacement dec. 2015 and i am still having pain in my hip.

I still have pain when I get up from sitting. If i stand a certain way or stand too long or sit too long, I still hurt.  My hip still swells and gets hot to touch. Is this normal to still be in pain after 1yr and a half since a total hip replacement?

OH MY GOSH! I get the questions from loved one's "you are still limping, what is going on"?  I said well, maybe it is the weather, well, it can't be the weather because it is nice and sunny!!  lol. HELP

    Hi Louise,

That doesn't sound normal at all.  I'm 10 months post op and I can't tell that I'd ever had anything wrong with my hip.  I strongly  advise that you contact your specialist as soon as you can.  There are simple tests that can be done to find out what is going on.  It might be a simple fix, but you won't know until you get checked out.

    Best wishes!

    dear louise,

warm welcome to the hippies forum where we share our personal experiences and stories ..

I know what you mean ... I still have aches and stiffness after 2 THR surgeries 12-18months post op ... especially in the morning -

I have been told that bone around the metal parts keeps changing and remodeling for 1 to 2 years after surgery, which is why you sometimes still can feel deep aches and some swelling might occur ...

It is hard to ignore remarks like that, isn't it, but try to not let it bother you -

just let us know what your surgeon will tell you and how you are getting on otherwise ..

    big warm hug

    renee
