I had a multinodular goitre and was told by doctors not to worry about it.I never had any problems at all, that was until it started to swell. After tests it was decided it would be best to have it removed. In March this year i had a total Thyroidectomy, as the results from my biopsy came back as AC3, which was not what i wanted to hear. They found three large lumps on my thyroid and i was told i had 1 in 10 chance could be malignant. After the op i had a 2 week wait to be told the lumps were infact benign,to my relief. I AM NOW ON THYROXIN and have never felt better, i have not been left with any damage to my throat or glands at all. I am 37 years old. The op itself was no where near as daunting as it sounds, i was up and about that same day. i will take Thyroxin for life but all is well so far.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am female 69 years of age - I was diagnosedwith Hashimoto's Thyroiditus about a year ago, I was prescribed thyroxin and put on  Atorvastatin 20mg. daily  since then I have continued to have severe palpitations, inner tremors, nauseous, but not sick, I seem to live in a cloud of fog, and am utterly miserable with this - it is very frightening.  Dr insists I stick with Euthyrox dosage of 75mg daily and 50 mg two days a week.  I am so tired, and also very frightened. I am wonderig if I swing from hyper to hypo... but why?    Can anyone help?

      Hi Dorothy,

I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditus, an underactive thyroid gland and lumps. I will have the removed and the galnd very soon. I am on 50mgr of Euthyrox at the moment but have been on higher dosage. You need to find yourself a good endocrinologist who can adjust the dosage for you and regular blood tests. I am 52 years old, menopausal and because I have also acid reflux I had to have a strict diet and lost weight. I feel better since I am still dieting and have more energy. Very important to have a low fat , low salt diet and cut out sugars and any food which does not agree with thyroid problem. Google about food you can or you can not eat and try that. Good Luck,
