I had a ruptured AAA aneurysm, anyone else?

I do not hear much from people who survived a ruptured AAA aneurysm.  Are you doing fine now?  How was the experience of getting all that blood out of your stomach?  Did you have trouble bending over and picking things up for a while?   Did the pools of blood in your belly cause you to have weird pains?  Can that dispersion cause blood clots later on?  After 6 months are you feeling normal again?

Hi James and everyone readin this...

The drain in my back was taken out in the ICU.. I had no swelling thank God, it was just a precautionary measure.. it's like having an epidura when a women is going to have a c-section.. it was a little painful going in and they had to be very careful not to hit any nerves.. after that was done I was wheeled in to OR... it wasn't long before I was out...  I am feeling better each day the physical therapist came today,, and said I am doing a lot better with my exercise and I walked one flight of stairs today.. I am so grateful to the Lord and my wonderfu doctor and his team for the outcome... and I am glad I found this forum... it's so good to talk with others, who have had similar surgery...

Hi guys I'm really really scared after looking on the Internet of this sad I noticed some visual pulsing down by my belly and have never been right for weeks after making myself I'll thinking I may have something like this. I can see it beating just at the bottom of my ribs. It is getting a lot worse the moving. I'm so scared. I had severe pain in my stomach with pain around my kidney area in my back but it appears it might be wind , I don't think would still be alive if it had ruptured 8 hours ago so that pain can be ruled out. I have no other symptoms other than seeing my pulse in my stomach and when I press down , I can feel it really well. I'm only 16 so it might be unlikely. I have been palpated 3 times sad and everything was fine but I'm just scared wreck less

Hi Ron..  the doctor is saying everything if fine, if you are still not comfortable with that  make an appointment and ask the doctor if he can schedule a CT Scan for you, to clear your mind.. I doubt if there is anyting bad going on there Ron.. you are only 16, so the likely hood of this happening to you is small.. but, to ease your mind anyway... just call the doctor and explain that you want to have the Scan.. also Ron, does anyone in your family have this?

Go get it checked out. Seriously. Their are studies done that say that this only affect older me but it's not true! I had a friend who died suddenly while at the gym, Her mom told those close to her that she died from a ruptured aneurysm. I know people who know of young people that have died from this silent killer. GO GET CHECKED no matter what any one say. Get a cat scan. (period). It's best to be safe than sorry.

Hi Kay , I have been to the doctor now 4 times and been palpated , they don't believe anything is wrong what so ever. I have no pain etc. Apparently it's Not unusual to see your stomach pulsating. You have to be referred for a CAT scan. And I don't think I will be.

Being palpated 4 times is unacceptable. You MUST request an ultrasound or CT scan.

I had my back and front stephoscoped as well , they said everthing looks fine and sounds fine. i have not got any other symptoms but only being able to see some pulsating. if i press deep down i can feel the aorta right down my stomach like a big line and does not seem to feel any more pulsative in any location. Im sure the doctors would of known if somthing were up . i went 4 times. i live 1 hour from my nearest hospital so hopfully all is well.

I had a ruptured aortic aneurysm the day after Thanksgiving 2015. I am a 41 year old woman who was very active at work. I was preparing for the big shopping day and noticed that I had back pain. I took some Advil and even used a heat pad and the pain didn't go away. Later that day (or the next - it's all fuzzy to me), I fell out while preparing for a bath. Thankfully, my daughter was nearby and escorted me to my bed. I told her that if I fall out again, call 911 and give me mouth to mouth. I had no idea what was wrong with me. I don't remember the ride to the hospital. Next thing I remember, I was on a helicopter ride to another hospital for emergency surgery. The vascular doctor/Angel fixed me! I have gone for my follow up visit and I'm still not able to go back to work. I have constant thoughts of this traumatic event because I've never had to be hospitalized for anything in the past.

I also wonder if anyone remember the dreams they had while in the induced coma. It all seemed real to me.

None. The day of, I had a back ache but I thought it was from me cleaning up or straining a back muscle.

hi James or anyone following , i am almost 4 months into recovery from my ruptured aneurysm, and evar surgery, my question is has anyone had any complications following surgery? If so what were they and what did they do about the complications? Any endoleaks, infections, or things you can share that you went through short or long term? I am scheduled for another ct scan in one month as a follow up. It will be about 5 months since my surgery.

Hi Mike,  In April it will be 2 years since my rupture.  I have had stomach pains all along.  It appears on my left side, so it could be pancreas problems.  I have had several CT scans that show everything is good.  I still have a glob of blood in there (tennis ball size) that might be causing me issues.  Thanks to advil, my pain is manageable and I just go on and deal with it.  I walk every day and do most of the things I did before my rupture.  I have toned down my running a lot.

Glad to hear from you again Mike.

      Hi

My dad unfortunately had complications. He had his surgery 5 months ago and contracted an infection which meant he needed a ten hour operation to removed the infection from his graft and wherever else it spread to. He is now on long term antibiotics to keep the infection away. He also suffered a blood clot and is now on blood thinners but he won't be on those forever. Just until his INR because stable

I think anyone that survives this operation is so strong mentally and physically. Well done to you all. Recovery is hard but I'm sure you will get there. My dad is slowly getting better every week
