I had Colporrhaphy surgery 1.5 weeks ago. Internal stitches bleeding after post-op exam. Help?

I had anterior and posterior vaginal surgery (Colporrhaphy) with perenium repair as well. I'm 45 and have had three children. The last two were hefty babies, weighing 9.6 lb and the last one four years ago (at age 41 ) weighed in at 10 lb 10 and a half ounces. Needless to say, I needed some repair work to keep things together both aesthetically and functionally.
My surgery went really well. I went in for my one and a half week post-op exam and my doctor gave me rave reviews about how well I was doing with my healing on the perineum. She checked the interior stitches with one finger and and said everything was in good order. When I got home I had had a little bit of bleeding, but then it went away and there was no bleeding at all. I woke up in the middle of the night in a pool of blood and went to the ER. I was nauseated and frightened by the amount of blood. Despite the amount of blood that was lost, the hospital ran a blood test and said I had not lost enough for any type of transfusion, and that my blood count was normal and there was no infection. good news I suppose.
I called my doctor and she advised me to use a tampon to put pressure on the inside of the vaginal walls to help stop the bleeding. It did definitely help slow and almost stop it completely. I kept it in for the entire day yesterday, and slowly removed it, wincing, millimeter by millimeter. It was definitely saturated, but my flow was nowhere like it was when I had to go to the ER. Now it's like a moderate to light period, but with dark red blood.
I am on bed rest over the weekend and will see my doctor tomorrow.
Just wondering if anyone else has had significant bleeding after dislodging or irritating the internal stitches. If you had bleeding, how long did it last? Did you find that bed rest was the best option?
Thanks for any encouragement. I'm getting so achey hanging out in bed...and bored! Supposed to go to Hawaii in 4 weeks and not sure if that's realistic at this point.

no this isn't normal . please go back to see your surgeon. yiur stitches could of ruptured and yiur repair could be at risk .
I would not delay in seeing him.x

thanks for your input. i talked with my surgeon Monday (the day after i posted this) and she thinks i had a small hematoma inside that ruptured. it's been a week of bed rest and modified bed rest and the bleeding is gone other than normal, healing discharge.
she thinks the amount of blood is less likely that a stitch was dislodged...but more likely bruising or hematoma...
I'm feeling more hopeful as each day i get better and better.

that's very positive. I would definitely get an internal from yiur surgeon just to make sure healing is progressing.
