Hello! Wow! What a huge surgery! I had fusion from L2 to S1 a year ago. You are so early on in your recovery, I would almost expect some pain. I was told by my surgeon that for the first few months my job was taking good care of myself and walking. I was given the impression that I would be back on my feet and somewhat normal in 3-4 months. Not true in my case. I learned that everyone heals at different rates. Give yourself the time and self care you need! The numbness and nerve pain will most likely be with you, and will slowly improve in time. If you think the pain is too much, don't be afraid to ask for help! Be patient! Eat healthy food and get sleep. Are you wearing a brace? I wish you all the best!

Not wearing a brace .I have been told up to a year, but the path is nerve pain which I have had all along. It just seems to be getting worse, I do walk but am stooping and so weak I have had back straightened and don't want to UNDO the work done in OP.??

You have had a huge surgery! The weakness is to be expected! The trauma to your bone, muscle, and other tissue is something that will take quite some time to heal. I was super motivated to get back to my old self, but finally learned that healing takes a lot of energy! I took frequent naps throughout the day. No bending, reaching a, twisting, VERY little sitting. Sitting is the worst thing you can do right now. It puts SO much pressure on your healing spine! Depression got to be somewhat of a factor for me as I expected more than my poor body could deliver. Patience is key! That and determination to get back to your life! All you can do is try!

      Hi Wayne

The OP was on the 10 th May. Because I couldn't walk, stand etc in the end I had my back straightened (# 20 screws , 51 staples,26 cm scar, healing well)

I had a curve put in my back where I didn't have one before. Scoliosis was the main thing, trapped nerves etc. Bad curvature etc
