I had a right total hip replacement two years ago on 7th Oct 2019 and for a while now been getting a sharp pain in my right shin and knee it really painful I have a phiscal job and find it hard some days to to walk it worry me that something wrong with my hip although their is no pain in it. I was meant go for a year x ray but because of covid I couldn't happen and have not had x ray since to check it as hospitals are busy so what should I do

    if you are sure you cant make a appt for x-ray for a technician to interpet the x-ray and possible diagnosis then its a guessing game for treatment. usually shin pain are muscles/ tendons strained from over used, stretched from to much walking/running. need to rest, and ice the leg wear a shin support take anti inflammatory . this type of pain is usually referred to a shin splint. rest is important then slowly work up to building up tone in the legs.if no improvement within a week or so then its advisable to make a dr. appt rather than risk more injury to the area.

    in my experience from hip joint replacement it could be the culprit during the recovery process, putting a strain on the shin areas. its not easy walking and gaining mobility after hip joint replacement. generally after a year or so your could be walking with the healing expectations of THR surgery no pain and better mobility. but if there was a injury to the shin it is possible to treat and also could be something else...
