i had my implanon put in about 11months ago. i never had a period at all which was brilliant but after putting on 2stone in under a yr i decided i had put on too much weigh, i had acne and sore breasts and that i should have it taken out early.

well.........this is what i was left with!!! my arm was really bruised and was cut so wide that i needed a stitch to close it back up. putting it in was so easy! im in pain now and i will have a puckered scar on my arm once it heals! but im glad i done it early. if id waited it might have had so much fat around it i would have had to b cut even more than i was.

saying all this i actually feel that as a contraceptive its great!

I had implanon inserted in 2002 (I was 17). I thought it was the greatest thing ever - but I was wrong. It helped clear my acne. HOWEVER: I gained a LOT of weight. Just before implanon, I weighed 57Kg. Having it removed three years on, my weight is now 70Kg. I feel so fat. I gained most of the weight around my thighs and ass. My tummy is still as flat as it use to be, but my behind does not look proportionate. I had the implanon removed due to the weight issue. Surprisingly, I think Implanon made me feel hungry ALL the time - I would never feel full. I feel unattractive and my self-esteem is low. I never worried about my weight (ate whatever I liked, whenever). In addition to this, I now have Benign Intracranial Hypertension (BIH) due to the weight gain. This means my vision and health of my eyes are compromised (straight lines are curved, I can not read properly anymore, and I fall down stairs often). The benefits of being on Implanon was my beautiful clear skin and not getting a period (at all) for three years. This however was not worth the fact that I now look like a fat cow who can barely fit into a size 14 skirt, and the fact that I could seriously loose my sight.

Well, I have looked at this site as I am due to get the implant put in on Tuesday, so thought it would be good to see some comments off other users to see what I might be in for! I have been on the Depo Jab for a total of 7 and half years (after finding out only supposed to be on it for a couple of years at most - but nobody told me!) So have opted for this method. Really sorry to hear your experience was so bad, especially your eyesight. My problem though is that I already am a size 20 and 15stone (after managing to lose a stone!!!) weight gain caused by a nervous breakdown and probably the Depo Provera I was on before. I used to be a size 12/14 (depending on the fit/style) and was so proud of myself, I never thought of myself as a "fat cow" to quote you, god only knows then what I must be as a size 18/20!!! Try and be happy as you are with the weight gain, don't try to squeeze into clothes that should only be worn by stick people....and I hope things get better for you.
