Hi there, sorry to hear about your TIA, hopeyou are doing well. following my ischaemic stroke in December. I was prescribed clopidogrel as an anti blood clotting agent & told I will need to take it for life.

Aspirin can also have the same properties but please check with your GP & good luck

Sorry to hear about your issues.  In most cases aspirin taken as such to maintain vascular health is a long term thing and is very effective.  Much better than taking statins for sure as there are minimal side effects.  I assume youre on a low dose, ie 75mg, and if so this wont cause you much in the way of stomach issues.  Presume long term use unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Everyone I know who has suffered a TIA has been prescribed aspirin for life - it will help to keep your blood thin and avoid another TIA.  Stay well!

dhanarajr, I understand about the easy bleeding on aspirin when you cut yourself - my son was discharged from hospital on Clopidogrel and Statins after a stroke.  Immediately he arrived at his home and started to prepare himself a meal, he promptly cut his finger, couldn't stop the bleeding and rushed to the nearest hospital who put a dressing on it and all was well.  What did your physician say about it?
