I had to have a C-section in my first pregnancy when diagnosed with Placenta Praevia. At the time I was quite upset at having to give up any dreams of an idealistic water birth, however with a beautiful healthy daughter at the end of what was an extremely calm, quick and lucid delivery any disappointment was eradicated. I'd been working with someone who had their baby die at 37 weeks, following a week in hospital with pre-eclampsia. At the end of the day all of us want a healthy baby and their mode of arrival in my experience is totally irrelevant.
I am now 36 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and from 31 weeks I have had the stress of discovering that the baby has major heart problems with it's rate up to 230 beats per minute (instead of around 140). I was given steroid injections in case of needing an emergency delivery, however with careful monitoring by a fantastic team at King's the baby is a little better - rate down although it has little blips of racing and it misses every 4th beat. Added to this stress I cannot get to see an obstetrician as she only works every other week, so haven't managed to discuss my options as far as a repeat c-section or VBAC goes.
All I want is a safe delivery for this baby and I can't get any advice from my local medical staff which is totally ridiculous and I'm sure the added stress can't be good for either me or baby. My midwife is also booked up for another 2 weeks, by which time I'll be 38 weeks. With no experience of labour, no access to medical advice and an ill baby I couldn't be more scared.
Anyone who has experienced any trauma during pregnancy, my heart goes out to them.

You may not get a reply from he above as this post is from 2006, I was told after my C-sections I was to wait one / two years before I could have another child? I had my first section 1993, then 1997, and 2006 I was told I could have no other children as three is the maximum pregnancies one is allowed due to the scar tissue.

Thanks very much for your reponse. do you think u can remember if the top of your belly botton where the umblical cord was cut off is kind of hard underneath. because touching my belly botton now, i feel it's a bit hard. am not sure if it's the healing process.
Thanks

My belly button is kind of strange feeling but I have never thought it was related to the c section, as my cut was done on the bikini line, the only thing I remember is when I had my third child awake, two people had to press down in that area to get my son out of the opening and I remember it was some force, never thought about my belly button being effected before??
Anyway I may ask my GP see what he says?
Take care x
