hi my name is Kim,

me and my husband got our fur baby Tony in 2015 he's was ginger and totally mental, everything was fine with him up until yesterday morning, I came home from work (I work for a covid ward) so my fur baby was my support system when things got bad on my ward not that my husband isn't awesome but the cat gave the best cuddles. within 10 minutes of being home he suddenly couldn't walk and was struggling to breathe, I have seen this happen hundreds of times at work but never dealt with anything like this with a pet. he was rushed to the vets but there was nothing they could do. the kindest thing was to put him down, so we did, he had a hear murmer so it lead to heart failure. it's only been 24 hours and I'm completely lost and heart broken he was only 5 and it all happened so fast I left with a cat and came home with nothing. I feel truly lost I've had pets before but this is devastating. I know this is the grieving process but I feel totally floored cant stop crying a miss him so much my husbands the same please help me.

hi kim, aw that's terrible! poor you, you need time to heal. anyone who tells you it's only a cat just doesn't understand! you take it a day at a time, you let yourself remember putting your sweet little cat to sleep was a really kind thing to do as he was clearly suffering. you did well. in time you may heal enough to take on another cat if you feel that's what you want. just keep a photo of your lovely much treasured friend close to you, it will remind you that he was always loved.

The only thing you can do to recover from that, is get another cat. My Nan has had 5 different cats and they really grow on us very fast. Get another cat, cats have short life spans usually. No cat will live as long as you. Sadly.
