I had to quit using Epaderm.....

Because it caused folliculitis due to it being a pore clogging lotion.  I really liked it but it was causing all of these pimple-type things on my thighs.

My dermatologist had me begin using Vanicream and it's great at moisturizing all those dry areas and I can use it as often as I like😊

Hi Kiki  I too use epaderm, and find it so thick that I can understand how it would be pore clogging. Vanicream is that only prescribed by a dermatologist, or can it be bought over the counter?

    Vanicream:

purified water, white petrolatum, sorbitol solution, cetearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, ceteareth-20, simethicone, glyceryl monostearate, polyethylene glycol monostearate, sorbic acid and BHT

    Epaderm:

Yellow Soft paraffin BP, Liquid Paraffin ph.Eur, Emulsifying Wax PB (containing Cetostearyl, Alcohol & Sodium Lauryl Sulphate), Chlorocresol, Purified water EP.

There is a web page on these creams called "This Popular Moisturizer Applied to Mice for 17 Weeks Got 69% More Tumors". You might want to read it. Just paste the title into Google.

I use vegetable oil-based herbal cream and ointment made by friends who've learned to make soap and other cosmetics. But many women in this forum have mentioned using food quality organic coconut oil from the health food section.

Doctors recommend these creams (they don't need prescriptions) because they're made by the big drug companies whose reps visit the doctors regularly.

The Vanicream works for me because it is non comedogenic so it doesn't clog pores, which is the problem that causes the folliculitis

Folliculitis is bad. I used to get what I called infected ingrown hairs in the crook of my groin.
