I *hate* 3:30 AM

This seems to have become the time my body wants to wake up for the day and man, am I feeling it. I spent most of the weekend on the couch being lazy (my poor daughter was so bored) but I just needed to rest! I try not to nap, thinking that will help me sleep through the night. I try to stay up a bit later, thinking that will help. Nothing helps! I just wake up around 3:30 and that's it. My mind starts going a mile a minute, even when I try to do my relaxation/meditation exercises. I also get these weird muscle spasms during this time that make it even harder to settle down. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that I've recently started on a low dose of Lexapro (my doc said it could cause sleep disturbances) or my regular perimenopause insomnia or a combination. I just want a full night's sleep! Sorry - just had to vent. 😦

Have you tried magnesium an hour or so before bed @tebrown96? I had similar issues and this is helping me especially with muscle spasms. Also always good to have a book/kindle to read as soon as you wait to relax your mind asap when you wait - this usually gets me back to sleep in 15 mins 😃 Nights that I'm struggling I also take Nytol one a night for a few nights to get the sleep pattern back. May all be useless advice but just wanted to share x

I wake up at that time too...every morning. It's usually caused by an adrenal surge. If I try to fall back asleep, it happens again. I'm so tired all day, I fall asleep by 8pm every night.

I also wake up round this time too usually with anxiety and palpitations, I cant remember the last time I had a good nights sleep. I have tried everything but nothing works, Im beginning to think Im just going to have to ride the storm with all these different symptoms, nothing seems to help Ive taken every different remedy, exercise, eating plan going and im still in the same situation. I went to see my GP on Friday regarding a on going problem with my ears, pulsing to heartbeat when in bed, she didnt seem overly concerned about it. The reason I went is when I looked this up on google it came up with all kinds of worrying information saying get this investigated straight away, then when you do go to the doctors you feel silly for mentioning it. It just feels like fighting a losing battle all the time, I hate google it has caused me no end of unnecessary anxiety I just need to go with flow.

hello! That's the magic time for me too. I was on Lexapro for 3 months...I had a lot of sleep disturbances on it too...changed to taking it at night and still did not help. It caused me other issues too... am off that. now on a med for migraines...sleep a little better now. You could try liquid melatonin...sometimes that helps. I listen to an audiobook before bed, Never have trouble getting to sleep.,,it is staying asleep!
