I have 11 cm x 6 cm cyst right ovary.

This was accidental finding from my ultrasound due to recurrent UTI. I had right salphingo oophorectomy done 2 days ago and thank God my CA 125 is normal. I ignored the subtle signs of the presence of cyst such as low back pain, constipation, bloatedness and ocassional sharp pain on my right umbilical area to groin. Im 42 and still with regular cycle, one child. I would suggest never ignore subtle signs as such and bravely seek attention.

I am 50 and, like you, have a cyst on my right ovary that was found during an ultrasound for a different condition. I'm scheduled for surgery in two days. The surgeon must remove the entire ovary because the cyst is so large. She is also going to remove the fallopian tube on both the right and left side. I am hoping that the bloating and pain will be resolved after this surgery.

What are your plans for treating your cyst?

      Hi lizzyboo,

Yes I am also sure that your bloating and pain will be gone after the cyst is removed. I had my right fallopian tube and ovary removed through 4 tiny incisions last tuesday 10 :30 and was home at 20:00 that day. The surgeon asked me if I have plans conceiving but i said no so he removed the tube and ovary. I have my left fallopian tube and ovary that would supply my hormonal needs for my age, so I would not need hormone replacement. I will see my surgeon in 4 weeks time for follow up. Gas pain on my right shoulder was my issue but it was relieved with heat pack. I took paracetamol and tylex very seldom for discomfort. I tried to be mobile as I could to get rid of gas pain and to prevent any other complications after surgery. I was able to move my bowels on day 3 which settled the abdominal discomforts I had post op. I hope things will ho well for your operation. Did your surgeon tell u why he wll remove the other non- affected fallopian tube and ovary?

      Wishing you the best,

      My fair lady

      Hi My Fair Lady,

Thank you for your reply. It makes me feel so much better knowing someone else is in a similar situation as mine. The surgeon said she will remove the other fallopian tube because studies have found that ovarian cancers begin in the tubes. I'm fairly sure she is going to leave the left ovary if it looks ok.

I believe she will prescribe Percocet for pain but I am hoping to only take it for a day or two. (I am in the US so I'm not sure if our medicines have the same names.) The heating pad is a good idea also.

Thank you again for your response. I will let you know how everything comes out (no pun intended!) after my surgery.

      Hugs,

      Lizzyboo
