Hi Everyone,

I am 38 in January and I had no children yet, I do want children though and would love to fall pregnant asap however..

I have had a check up  with my Gyno and she told me I have a 10cm Fibroid on my right ovarian on the stalk and so its outside of the uterus... but she cant see my right ovarie due to the size of the Fibroid and she couldnt tell my my egg count on the ultrasound. So she wants it out, she is also a fertility specialist and feels that its best to take it out via myomectomy and cleant ot out together with some endometriosis that I had cleaned out 2 years ago and came back again... but that was just a key hole surgery... now  I been told it will be a cut and if I end up pregnant it more likely will need to be delivered via c-section.

Since last surgery I have had unprotected intimate time with my partner for almost a year however never fell pregnant . My Gyno feels it could be due to sperm not reaching the eggs due to Fibroid blocking it.

I have to say I am not familiar with fibroids and pregnancy etc so I am here wishing for insight and little information regarding this condition.

I would like to know once fibroids removed.. considering its outside of my uterus.. are there ladies that conceived successfully and how long did it take approximately?

Also should I be worried with this procedure?

I feel depressed that I would have to deliver via c- section as well .

And I know that fibroids come back.. and what if I dont fall pregnant and tham they grow back .

Sorry I feel so distraught about it because I really wanted to have a baby and I know my time is running out I feel.

In advance I would like to Thank you for your insights 🙏

Sorry to hear this but from your post it sounds like your doc is saying you may not get pregnant without removing it.  I had a 12cm fibroid in my uterus which they thought had blocked my tubes as I had been actively trying for years. I also had horrific periods. I had the myomectomy and during the op and after removing the fibroid my tubes were clear. It’s a bit longer recovery time than I thought but at least I have a chance now of having a child, even though it’s going to be through ivf (I’m nearly 41). My op was just before my 40th and I wish I’d got it done earlier to give me a better chance. I also got told I’d have a c section too which bothered me at first but really if you are lucky enough to fall pregnant and have a healthy baby, does it really matter how it comes out?  Understand it’s a bit overwhelming at the moment but if your doc thinks that’s the best chance for you then you should seriously consider it.

      Thank you for your response...

I am glad that your chances are better now of course and I hope 🤞 you are successful in conceiving.  You are right at least there is higher chance now and possibility of getting pregnant.

How long did it take you to recover ? And did you stay in hospital for longer or ?

I’m in the UK, so I went in for the op on a Monday and got out Thursday. I was initially signed off for 6 weeks but I ended up being off for 10. I had a little clot though so it took a bit longer to heal up. Recovery was harder than I thought but I’ve read on here that other people are back to work at 6 weeks. My advice is give yourself time to heal and don’t put yourself under any pressure.  The way I looked at it was I’d never get pregnant with the fibroid so it had to come out. Happy to chat anytime as I know it feels huge just now for you. It’s a positive though that your doing something about it. See it as the start of your journey to get a little one. I know I’ve done everything I can to fall pregnant and if it doesn’t happen then I have no regrets as I’ve tried. Try not to worry or think too far ahead.

Removing the fibroids your chances of getting pregnant are higher. The risks should be low if the procedure is done by a specialist in fibroids removal. As your fibroid is big, you will have to have it out ASAP, to avoid any complications. Where are you based? Is worth checking with other doctors as well as the skills are different and you may be able to have a keyhole.

Thank you for your response, appreciate it.

I am in Sydney Australia and my Dr is A fertility specialist Dr Jessup and she allready operated on me removing endometriosis.

I am just a little worried going trough this procedure and the whole idea of having the Fibroid that is 10 cm .

I so so want children and feel that the fact that now that there is messing around with my overies and all .. is giving me anxiety and negative feelings of being able to get pregnant one day.

Hi, I have Fibroid and have a surgery on 18/7/2017 at Columbia Asia Hospital, Johor Malaysia, My doctor during the surgery is Dr Rohaini who specialist at Obstetrics & Gynecologist, I though after the surgery and suffer, the fibroid is clear but when I doing a pap smear at different hospital on 18/11/2017, the doctor there found out I still have 3 more fibroid inside my body, the bigger one is 4.7cm, I got a big shock as the fibroid grow back within 4 months after the surgery. therefore, I suggest you better ask for 2nd opinion who is specialist at Fibroid before any surgery done, my case is one of the example.

Anyway, hope you can recover soon.
