I have a question...

Hi, I have TMJ and I wanted to know if anyone else with TMJ had the same symptoms as me or if there might be another problem. Here are some of the symptoms that I have on a regular basis...

Muscle tension and fatigue especially in the sholders, neck, forehead, behind the eyes and in the jaw.

Blood in saliva, usually in the morning but occasionally during the day. I don't have tooth ache and I can't tell where the blood is coming from as there's no pain or signs of damage.

Cracking and popping sensations the jaw, behind the ears around the nose. This includes pressure in the ears and around sinuses, both regularly pop due to a change in pressure.

Eye floaters, most are clear and occasionally catch the light when I'm moving my eyes. There's a dark one in my left eye which is like a spider web.

Last but not least, muscle twitching. I get muscle twitches all over my body, they're not constant but I get two or three per day that usually last less than 30 seconds. Sometimes my leg, other times my back and other times my forehead.

So who here has these symptoms and have you found a solution for any of the above?

Hi, very similar symptom except for the blood in saliva. Mine is on the right side only and comes from the ear to the front of the chin. My teeth feel sensitive too on the bottom. I too have muscle fatigue and twitches especially on my chin. Ear pain sometimes and tinnitus... mine comes and goes, when iam stressed it's much worse. Magnesium oil is good for massaging into the neck and shoulders...otherwise it's bearable. Let me know how you get on...smile

Mine is on both sides. The clicking is constant but the pain comes and goes, it's not a terrible pain but it's a dull draining pain.

I don't have issues with my teeth thankfully but lots of pressure in my ears, behind my eyes and around my sinuses.

I'm taking magnesium tablets but I'll give the oil a go and see if it helps 😊

I am a newby to TMJ but I just recently had a nice consult with the TMJ dentist and he spent a lot of time with me explaining a lot of info on TMJ. So I will tell you what I know about me and what he told me about TMJ.

The cracking and popping totally normal. Eye floaters normal, but I don't think they have anything to do with TMJ. They just happen to us all. The muscle tension, must definately. I have carpal tunnel and he said it may be caused by my TMJ. That suprised me. So Definately muscle tension everywhere, which could also cause the twitching.

As far as a solution, are you being treated for your TMJ? Are you wearing a mouth piece? That really is the only solution. And I don't mean the kind that you buy in the stores or on TV. I had the option to buy one from my dentist which is essentially as rubber guard that fits my teeth and covers them to protect them. But my dentist said he could be sure that it would solve my problem and of course as is my luck it is not covered by my insurance. So he said my other choice was to go to a TMJ specialist who would make a specialized mouthpiece. Well that's what I have done. And so far, so good, but it's been less then a week.

So good luck to GaMo. I hope some of my rambling has helped you.

I haven't seen a specialist but I have seen a doctor, dentist and optician regarding these symptoms. I don't have a mouth piece but my dentist said she'd measure me up for one.

Do you experience muscle twitching and pressure in and around your face? I've been getting very stiff shoulders lately.

Tingling on the face. Oain and ache bithnsides then outmof nowhere it stops for a while. It somehow presses into my ears and does all weird thing in my ears. I have had tmj for twenty years. This year its done strange things. I use a splint i clench. What happened a crown fell and they out it back and i started clenching differenty. I replaced my bite my jaw the bottom back a tiny bit and has made a mess out of me. tinnitus and goes but other weird sensations commd go too, i use a maxillary surgeon. I ise a mouth splint. I just bot a script for tmd therapy and trying to locate a place to get it. The surgeon said use very warm water bottles on each side. The sell a headband with gels packs and you heat them and out one on each side in the slots twn minutes twice a day. I also use arnica gel..dries very fast it helps the muscle ache. I have been recently reading what to do. This can get very uncomftable.if your shoulder are hurting as well you should see if your neck is all good and posture. Tmj and or tmd is posture, jaw, and stress mixed together. Im asleep so it gets rough. I found a clenching hypnosis on utube and ive been listening to it. Ill try anything. Accuouncture is on my mind as well. Just dread so many little needles being jabbed in to me, sporadically everyone tells me it can get bad then months later be fine. It effects the whole face and temples the muscles and nerves run all over.
