I have a small avulsion fracture to the cuboid and talus, when can I return to work?

Hi

On Sunday morning just gone, I got out of bed at 3am in the morning to go to the loo and as I stood up to put my slippers on, my right foot lost balance and rolled over off the slipper. I did not hear any crunches or breaks but I was in severe pain. I went to the hospital to have an X-ray done yesterday and the doctors confirmed I had a small avulsion fracture to the cuboid and talus. I have been instructed to wear a "black shoe" though this was changed from a "black boot" as I think they said my risk of getting DVT was less, or injury was not as severe for a black boot. I have been referred to a fracture specialist and will get a call within the next week giving me more information.

My fear is not knowing how long this will take to recover from and how long I'm going to be off work for? I drive a lorry for a living and work in the oil industry, so my job requires some physical activity and walking.

The pain this morning is mild, and I can walk on it a lot easier than I could yesterday at least, but I really don't want to be off for work long with this as I'm already losing my mind. I'd appreciate your response if you have experience of this type of injury.

Thank you

Jo
