I have a strange phobia/habit not really sure what to call it.

I suffer from sweaty feet and hands I always have done so I am always wearing socks. I have to change my socks 4-5 times a day so I started buying just plain black trainer socks to make it easier to pair them back up. Only all the packs of socks I've bought are different. I can't wear the socks because they're never a proper pair so I end up changing them over and over again until they both feel exactly the same. I find myself wasting a lot of time doing this and I don't know why I do it. I irritate myself by doing this but I just feel stressed and uncomfortable if the socks do not feel the sAme. Is there any thing I could do to stop myself?

Hi Laura, really don't have an answer about sweaty hands and feet. Maybe some anxiety issues or I really don't know. Talk to your GP. The second part about wearing the socks maybe some kind of compulsive disorder. Again I am not a doctor as this is what I would recommend to you is to see one. Good luck.

Sweaty hands and feet were on Embarrassing Bodies and it was sorted out medically.

The sock thing is OCD and needs to be addressed.

    Best wishes

There are several possibilities one of which is OCD - obsessive/compulsive behaviour. This is not easy to cope with so the sooner you see your GP the better; get the GP to refer you to a specialist because you need help asap to stop it getting worse. I hope it is not OCD and there is a simpler answer but you need help now.
