I have an under active thyroid and I am having problems can anyone help

I was put on l-thyroxine for my under active thyroid just over 4 years ago. I put on 5 stones in less than 3 months the forget fullness got worse felt ill and my blood pressure went up. I stopped taking it and after research started on ERFA and was feeling a lot better. My new doctor is refusing to give me a prescription for my erfa To stretch out what I have left I am taking less than i should and feel awfull. Doctor is insisting that i go back on L-thyroxine and I refused due to above. Has anyone had the same problem I feel as if I am between a rock and a hard place.
