I have anal burning and itching. What should I do?

Hello there! I have been experiencing some anal pain for the last month and a half. I was at the doctors three weeks ago and he prescribed me some cream against dermatitis. Now, the issue is that three weeks have passed and it has not improved my situation. He did not check my anal area, rather, he assumed that i had dermatitis. I am not sure if i have dermatitis. The pain occurs after I have a bowel movement. Before, i experienced unpleasant pain that got me depressed but not the pain is a lot weaker but still persistent. Also, when I walk outside, i can feel this unpleasant sensation while walking. It is in the anal area. Can anybody help me with this?

P.S. I will go to the doctor in three days time and hopefully he will help me. But i am concerned. What is the doctor likely to do? It is the same doctor that prescribed me that cream. THanks

    Hi Alidan,

Really, your doctor should have checked you properly the first time. But if your in the UK then cut backs are affecting how doctors examine patients.

It is noticeable even in our practice, we have more doctors but the chance of seeing my own doctor is once in a blue moon.

Getting back to your issue, make sure he checks you next time, just because you say you have something is not what he or she should go by. My doctor treated me for 6 weeks for an infection when I had cancer! It was not until I read the symptoms on the internet that I said to my doctor can you just send me to A&E to have an Ultrasound scan, which revealed 5 polyps!! So much for my doctors opinion!

If you're not happy with your own doctor then please ask for a second opinion - it is better to be safe than sorry.

    Regards,

    SteV3.

So it would not be a bad idea if I ask him to check my anal region? I just hope nothing bad is going on. It is starting to affect my life for the worse

Recently, I went to the doctor and he referred me to some gastro something specialist. He says that I do not have hemorrhoids. What is the problem then? I hope to get a letter from the hospital any time soon. Did anyone experience something like this? Is it serious?
