i wish i could know if i was going to ever feel better or normal . i have zero concentration and everything is over whelming to me ..... even worse at 4 weeks of taking prozac .
i had an amazing couple days last week and them crashed back down even lower . tough to handle work at this point . i pray that i can be excited for each day .

It's possible that higher serotonin is the last thing you need. There are genetic mutations that cause certain enzymes that process/break down neurotransmitters to operate too slowly, leading to HIGHER levels of neurotransmitters than average. Too high serotonin is as detrimental as too low. In one study I read, too high serotonin is associated with social anxiety. HIgh anxiety can be a symptom of mild serotonin syndrome, and that may be what is causing your feeling of overwhelm. I would consider coming off the prozac if it is worsening your symptoms, but you may have to taper off - don't do that without talking to your doctor. The genes that code for those enzymes is the COMT and Mao-A genes. More than you probably care to know, but something to consider. I have both mutations, always assumed my problem was low serotonin and took meds for years, to no real benefit.
