I have been diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer

Hello all,

just needing some advice so all my life I have had fibrocystic breast. They've had their normal aches and pains all the time. I wear a good bra during the day and I sleep in a sports bra at night. I find that it helps with the breast pain. I wasn't one to go every year for a mammogram because I guess I fear the radiation that goes in the woman's body. So after six years I thought it was time to get another mammogram. Upon doing so they saw some abnormal tissue and did many, many mammograms. They then took biopsies which included more mammograms. Now I have to go get a lumpectomy which I am sure will involve more mammograms because they have to put a locator in to find the lump. Which this lump, after the biopsies, was considered to be stage 0 breast cancer. So my problem is, I have read where surgeries can actually cause the cancers to grow and I am not sure if I need to do the surgery which my doctor also wants radiation done afterwards.

Have any of you gone through this and what did you have done? also can anyone tell me is all of these mammograms not harmful for the body? I mean, I am guessing cuz I can't say for sure but through all of this I am guessing that I had maybe fifteen mammograms total on both breasts. That concerns me. Does this sound normal and is it safe to have that many mammograms in such a short time? Jeesh uf I didn't have cancer b4, I prob certainly would now! Should I get a second opinion maybe or is this the normal protocol! Any input on any of this out there? I sure would appreciate it!
