i was diagnosed with fm about 5 months ago and I'm getting quite worried, some days I can manage the pain but other days it gets out of control, severe pains in my hands and feet and also my neck, experiencing horrible dizziness, another thing I have found but had this a while is that I can stand in front of a person and I know who they are just cannot remember their name, have anyone else experienced these ?? I do also have other health problems such as severe osteoarthritis all over so this is not helping

Yes my pain is manageable on most days but some days when I think it can't get any worse it does. I can't find my words sometimes they call that fibro fog. I was diagnosed in 1996 it was in my neck only and I did not believe in FM at the time I did a weight-loss program at my gym and within a year I lost 93 pounds a very eat a very healthy diet and in the best shape of my life but started having pains in my legs then it moved to my shoulders and my arms and my neck went to several doctors finally a rheumatologist that did all kinds of bloodwork and rurled out everything else and diagnosed me with FM. You better believe I believe in it now it's just a shame that there's nothing really to help with the pain I don't want to take pain pills they make me sick I'm trying cymbalta but it's been 6 weeks and no relief I know if I don't get up and move an exercise it's 10 times worse so I make myself.
im really sorry your going through this. Just don't give up.

Yes I also have issues with memory, and names are really hard at work I keep a notepad to help. And as far as the pain, I'm actually sitting here with a heating pad on my neck as we speak.!

Hi Sharon,
like you I have Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as the dreaded Fibro.
I'm wondering if you have you been under a lot of stress just lately? I am never free of pain of some kind, but if put under any stress or something out of my control happens, then see the pains worsen. As for the 'Fibro Fog' that happens quite a lot, I get really confused and am so forgetful, at one stage I thought I might be starting with Dementia.
Have you seen a Rheumatologist, they can hopefully help with the pain. x

Hi Sukes
i have been under some stress lately but had these problems prior to that, the fibro fog is really embarrassing and annoying but I suppose out of my control, I too thought I had dementia but relieved to hear from yourself and other who are having the same problems with fibro fog, well not pleased but relieved not dementia, I'm on so many tablets for pain with osteoarthritis and now been given gabbapentin and amitriptyline for the fibromyalgia, although the gabbapentin don't seem to be working but the amitriptyline do as I'm on a high dose and knock me out so have a relatively good nights sleep, may need to go back to gp with regards to pain during the day, I have seen rheumatologist and have now been referred to pain clinic so not sure how long I'll have to wait for an appointment xx

Hi Sharon - Yup me too. It is embarrassing to forget mid-sentence words....but I'm learning to stop worrying about it.
We have to learn to adapt and accept (not easy), but one thing I would say....exercise - so important! Please try and find someone to help you learn the right exercises. I was getting so weak, I could hardly walk up and down the stairs, but since starting to exercise I am gradually getting stronger.
I'm reading a very good book right now - Take Back Your Life by Tami Stacklehouse. She makes a lot of good recommendations to help us live with FM. I'm trying to work on some!
Good luck sweetie x

Yes, exactly the same here, I find the dizziness quite scary though, my memory is getting worse, I also like you have athritist, diverticular, IBS, asthma, so some days I don't know if I'm coming or going. Lol
