my GP has said i should stop taking 225mg per day lyrica(pregablin) after just three weeks for severe back/leg pain maybe nerve damage. I had a lumber decompression 5 weeks ago but have not had any pain relief. should I carry for a few more weeks or increase the lyrica ?????

Oh definitely stay on it ! Three weeks is just the start up period. It took me 8 weeks to fully experience the effects of this good drug, and Lyrica is just the thing for back pain, have faith in it, you might just have post-operative pain, when the back heals you'll want the Lyrica. 225mg a day is an excellent dose, maybe you need 300mg/day? after that dose you don't get much more benefit.

    Hang in there!

thanks for replying.. GP yesterday also prescribed cymbalta to be taken with lyrica?????? so perhaps i will continue with just lyrica for a few more weeks. Did you feel any pain relief with lyrica within first month then?

Please do not stop the Lyrica, it is an excellent drug, and if you have severe pain due to neuropathic issues DEFINITELY do not stop.  I would personally suggest uping the dose to 300/mg daily, if you can handle the moderate issues of the side effects, (i.e. drowsiness, confusion, weight gain, feelings of bloating/fulness, and sometimes feelings of shortness of breath.)  Lyrica has been also known to cause feelings of depression/suicidal ideation, but with the Cymbalta, (THE top drug for these issues next to Sertraline) you should have nothing to worry about.  The effects of Lyrica and Cymbalta are NOT extremely self-evident.  The drugs work slowly, and you will not feel any sudden or abrupt changes, you will simply just forget the pain/anxiety/depression, and one say "HEY" I haven't any issues today, and then it gets better.

Trust me I have worked in medicine and Pharmacology.
