I have been on amlodipine for a little over 2 years now. My BP has been well under control, but since the last month I have been feeling very low and depressed. My physician says this is certainly due to amlodipine. This month has ben the worst experience of my life. Amlodipine users beware.

what a relief to read this comment. I started taking Amlovasc a couple of months ago. I am feeling so low, I'd rather not be here! Today I am so weary I decided to get rid of my dog as the walking of him is getting too much and I am so tired in the mornings that I have really had to force myself to get out of bed. I thought I'd just see if the side effects of this drug might be causing me to feel so bad, and after reading comments here, feel there may be an answer to my woes.

I have been in Istin (Amlodipine) for over 2 years and found them to be OK. Last month these were substituted for a different brand...Amlovasc which are also Amlodipine. My Doctor told me it is just a different brand but trust me, I really have had a terrible month on this brand, I feel sick continually, dizzy, ulcerated tongue, constipation mood swings like a Phsyco and an all time low sex drive (at 46)!!!

Does this trigger any alarm bells?

I took Cozaar and Bendrofluazide for 11 years, no problem, then was switched to Cozaar, Simvastatin and Istin, but the second prescription was for Amlovasc, and I have felt dreadful, 4months of severe groin, thigh and lower abdominal pain, felt as if I had been severely kicked in that area, hardly any urination during the day, felt as if cystitis was starting with heat and heaviness, but up several times in the night, so I am weary from interrupted rest. Ankles swollen, sometimes I can hardly walk or stand up straight. Felt desperate, it's a poor quality of life, I fee 20years older than my 50s. Forgot to take the statins 2 days ago, pains began to subside, I can walk with much less discomfort , and feel lighter and brighter. If the improvement continues as the drug works its way out of my system, I shall see my GP soon. I am actually afraid of taking them and the discomfort coming back. My husband takes Simvastatin and Amlovasc with no side effects at all.
