yes, im sorry, i have a brain injury and sometimes dont clarify well....

i do feel worse on the higher dose, yet i never felt really great on the 10mg even though i saw a very small improvement,,,,,I have tried so many anitdpressants and was stablilzed on prozac  for severals yrs and then went off before my brain injury 3 yrs ago.  I seem to have good and bad hours not days, mainly because i now have anxiety along with the depression which i never had before.  and also, because i do have visual and spacial impairments from the brain injury.  I just feel like i am starting over gain with the 15 mg, and i wonder if it will take many weeks to feel kindof  '' ''good'' like it did with the 10mg......I only have experience with 20 mg of prozac ''pre brain injury'' going a great job.  I was wondering if there is anyone who has sucess on 10 or 15 mg of the flu.  because the side effects are so hard on me.  Thank you!

heya crayola, cant comment on the 15mg you're on as mine are 20's, but the feelings you're having are all too common with fluoxetine, it's crazy that you almost have to get worse before you get better as it takes the damn tablets so long to work at their best, and we're all different so where 1 person feels benefit after a month it may take 6 weeks for somebody else, and I guess it may depend on other medication you maybe on. when you're feeling down it is just awful I know, I try having the radio on in the background for distraction, reading a paper, doing a crossword to keep my brain occupied. have you any hobbies that may help you? even the television would help perhaps, though strangely enough I can't be bothered with the tv, the adverts annoy me for whatever reason. I have been kinda short tempered recently, impatient with life in general, maybe thats frustration at feeling unwell, do'nt know. I do hope tomorrows a better day for you crayola, and the day after that etc etc........... caio for now, David

thank you so very vey much david25160!  i get the irrita bility, frustration and  short temper at times and it is ubcharacteristic for me, proipr to the BI, but i am hoping that the Flu. helps ...even though at times i think it asserbates the irritability.  I hope you are going to have better days!  i cannot tolerate the tv or too much stimulation with the BI bc i also have visual and spcial impairments .  thank you so much fo ryoue support!  wishing you health!

I don't know if this will be of any help but I've been on 40mg daily for 8 years now and was on 20mg daily for 6 years before that.  I've only ever known 20mg as a starting dose for fluoxetine - I didn't even know they made 10mg tablets.

I was very lucky and never had a single side effect with them from the day I started.  They don't make me feel "good" as such but they stop the depression becoming unbearable and I will be on them for life.  I have chronic clinical depression.

My husband has severe anxiety and social phobia and he was prescribed 20mg daily prozac for his depression - it sent him even more loopy!  From the second dose he was having muscle twitches, auditory distortion and severe dry mouth.  He was quickly switched to a couple of other drugs instead.

If you have bad anxiety, it might be worth trying amitriptyline instead of prozac.  I take 40mg before bed to help deal with pain but it is mainly used for treating anxiety-type depressive illness.  It does make some people feel like complete zombies the next day though, so it doesn't suit everyone.

If you feel as though you are not getting along with prozac after 8 weeks, you really need to speak to your doctor.  There are many varieties of antidepressant available, the trick is finding the one which is right for you.

    all the best, stay positive

Good to know thanks. I have to cut a 20mg in half for 8 days then continue on with 20mg caps per day. Im on day 5 and I don't feel like I did on day 1 2 and 3. So that's a good sign I reckon can only get better. I was on amitrip. For migraines years ago. Only 20mg per night and had no side effects so will consider taking that if I don't see huge improvement after a couple of month's.

Sending hugs.:-) cant comment on dose as I started on 20mg but all these feelings are familiar.  Working my way to end of week three and struggling without the complications you have.

Hope you manage to work through this soon, people all seem to say these are all just blips so lets hope so. Xx

    Take care
