My personal experience. I have been diagnosed mentally I'll with a phsycotic disorder since 1996.Started on haldol, navane, artane then risperidone for several yrs ,now been on Olanzapine 10 yrs- started at 20 mg few years been on 10 mg several yrs and still. Very stable at this have been for several yrs also. Hospitalized 3 times over past 20 yrs, Thankful for a very good doctor each of those times was stable again in 3-4 days and back home. Just kinda puzzles me all the posts about withdrawal symptoms. Being on it so long I have taken myself off of it few times because of side effects and felt I didn't need it anymore. I've always been wrong I myself have never had any withdrawals from the medication what did happen every time my original symptoms surfaced which something I don't want to and cannot manage or maintain somewhat normal without it. I also take Prozac along with it. Good luck everyone stay positive honest and open with a Dr. you trust. Trust me I know about physcotic symptoms very well and have Learned to manange them ,phsycotherapy which over time and talking and trusting my Dr. live a happy normal life. I do not wish any type of physcotic symptoms at all. Dealing with a chemical imbalance can be very for Dr and patient sometimes and everyone is different. I am blessed and grateful today and with God. Above all else I seriously doubt I would be alive today. That's my experience. Best wishes and I'm going to say a prayer for every person anywhere that has to struggle and deal with a mental illness.
