I have been on sertraline 150 mg for 3 years or more

I have been on this dosage for about 3 years and functioning okay.  But recently have been struggling.  Getting frustrated easily and some anxiety.  I have missed a couple of days here and there but in the main been ok at taking it.  I have also just realized that I don't sleep well!  That's been the case for years though!  I have low motivation and keep putting things off.

just wondering, am I alone on this?

Hi, maybe you need to see your GP , sometimes it may be you need to increase

your dose for a few weeks then,go back to 150mg when things settle down.

    Just a thought,hope this helps 😃

Thanks Trina, I think I will.  I suppose at least I am recognizing things are not right.

I would agree with Trina. However, maybe it's as simple as you're in a rut. A couple simple life changes might be what you need. Try taking up a new hobby or just finding something that inspires you.

I know when my anxiety kicks up something it has to do with feelings that I'm suppressing. But thats just me. When that happens I use my CBT tools that I learned through counceling and that seems to get me in the right direction.

    Best of luck!

thanks, just finding hard to get any motivation and then get anxiety and frustration from not achieving anything.  The suppression thing sounds familiar but don't know how to deal with it.  Also stuff going on with court case/ex wife and child access.  But that has been going on for 3 years.  Running out of energy, it is all so unfair when it comes to getting time with my daughter.

Hi Ian , I was 50mg for 5years but the last 9month I've been up and down , I'v up it to 100gs then after a month dropped it down to 50again  but still had blips so I decided to come off all together ,but I did it over 6 weeks .im not saying that's what you should do , but I do think your body gets use to it and stops working . But I do think you should go to see your doctor. But it's your body and you no how you feel . Good look

Hi Ian. Hmm, has anything changed recently in your life? More responsibilities? Anything different? More commitments?

a few things, but just finding everything daunting and no motivation.  Hate myself for putting things off to tomorrow and then the next day.

Ian, it seems to me that you are going through a lapse or a minor relapse while on med. I think you have been stretched too thin or stressed out, but may not be completely aware of this. In recent years I’ve noticed that whenever I’m on this med and am stressed out I have trouble sleeping thru the night and I have lots of muscle aches and pains and headaches. And I would feel very tired and lazy and unmotivated. And I would be very short-tempered and easily aroused. I suggest you go talk to a therapist if you haven’t already and explore what is making you feel like this. Start by making small changes. Say you have a long list of things to do – just pick ONE thing on the list and vow to do that and do it! A journey of a thousand steps begin with the first one.

Evening Ian. Could be a blip so hang in there. However I have been researching diet to support Tryptophan (Serantonin)  production. I really believe that you can make a difference by taking a serious look at what you are eating.

Also, if you have the resources, do get some private 'therapy' such as Hypnotherapy (a good Hypnotherapist will be able to give you loads of support with dealing with negative thinking problems and strategies for self relaxation) and or Counselling. The 'talking therapy' with a Counsellor from the local NHS Menatal Health Team should be able to provide CBT and more. All these are worth a punt as well as discussing variation of dose with your GP.

Good luck matey and all the best.

I certainly agree with the comments regarding your body getting used to sertraline I started on 50 fine go a month then went up to 100 for 5 months then recently started to feel not 100% and realised t was the anxiety creeping back in I'm now on 125 and feeling good again but already anticipating going up in a few minths

I'm also interested to learn more about serotonin and diet mentioned in an above comment this sounds interesting , if it was me I'd up the dose but where does it end? Or is it we simply need the medication ? Sorry a little deep but this is how I'm thinking 🙂

Plenty of stuff on line but, of course, see if there is discussion on 'known (e.g. Patient UK) sites' first. deffo worth pursuing as the foods rich in Tryptophan are common and available.

      Good luck.
