I have been having acute sciatica pain for nearly 2 years now, tried physiotherapy, chiropractic and have been taking co-codamol and voltaren, but the pain does not go away, I rarely go out now, am 48 and find it very hard to stand and walk, only relief is when I lying in bed.  Any advice or suggestions? Thanks.

I've had sciatic pain for decades; usually fixed with a quick trip to the chiropractor.  One time, however, it was caused by a bone spur literally crushing my sciatic nerve at L4/L5.  My neurosurgeon went in, got rid of the spur and did a quick decompressive laminectomy...same day operation, immediate relief...done.

However, October of 2016 saw me get "sciatica-like" pain down BOTH legs.  Never happened before.  Took some tests to confirm it but the problem was due to severe bi-lateral STENOSIS at L2/L3.  Neuro performed a 90-minute LLIF (Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion), one overnight, pain done immediately, no brace, no rehab.  Complete fix...stenosis gone.
