I have been using Tibolone (Livial) for three years now....

I have been using Tibolone (Livial) for three years now. I previously used HRT patches but due to the length of time I had been using my GP suggested that Tibolone would be better for me.

I have had previous hysterectomy and bowel resection due to Endeometriosis.

I am now 49 years of age and HRT started at approx 29 years old. I had one son at the age of 27 and had a miscarriage at age 29 when I was 5 months pregnant.

I have some concerns regarding Livial as I am currently experiencing -

Joint Pain

Severe Muscle Pain

Some Visual blurring

Fluid retention

Very low metabolism (despite trying very hard to motivate and move around as much as possible)

Require rest and sleep often

Unexplained weight gain or fluid retention ?

I have been attending my GP for the last 4 months back and forth with muscle and joint problems and also some swelling in the neck area.

Some blood tests have been done but at the moment nothing has been found. Apparently Thyroid results are normal.

A swelling ocurred on the lower right side of my neck around early February. I have not to date received a scan to diagnose the problem despite repeated visits to the practice and also visiting a private consultant in Murrayfield Edinburgh who wrote to the GP practive a number of weeks ago and who recomended that this should be done.

I was suspicious at first that I had a thyroid problem but the blood results do not show.

My concern therefore now is that Livial is causing my symptoms and I need to establish whether this is the cause or not and whether to continue with livial or not under the circumstances.

Visiting the web site has been of benefit to me in order that I can read current research on Livial as I am extremely concerned that I have gone from a fit well active person to the current pain and progressive problems I am now experiencing.

Regards.

WOW..... im amazed!! i was just googling and came across these posts. I thought i was the only person in the world feeling like this.

I am 39 had a total Hyst 3 yrs ago due to Endo. I went on Livial after 6mths due to really bad hot flushes and a range of other usual menopause symptoms. All seemed great for a while. However i have spent the past 18months having xrays, scans and blood tests to try and find out what is causing the constant pain and aching in my hip, buttock and thigh. I have also put on about 12 kg.....ALL on my stomach. I have always been really tiny and have never had weight issues. Im constantly tired and will stay in my PJ's for days if I could.

My gut (pardon the pun) feeling all along is that the Livial was causing these health issues. When you suggest that to a Doctor, they look at you as though you are a neurotic idiot.....

Im now feeling really depressed at all the weight gain and was about to go back to a Dr and ask for patches..... hoping that they might help.

Has anyone tried the BIO IDENTICAL Hormones???? Most GP's go into hysterics if you dare mention this...... sighting that it is not scientifically tested or proven...... as opposed to the chemicals that they freely give us that have been tested and proven to have some incredible side effects. ironic really.

I would love to hear from anyone further to discuss this topic.....glad I found you girls!!!

      Hi there!!!

I have stopped having prostrate injection and ribosome tabs.. much to my consultants bemusement. I believe that slowly my joint pains are fading and I'm starting to feel better. I am waiting to hear from consultant regarding another HRT buy to be honest I'm gonna try to take nothing and see how I go.

      Good luck

      Hi Katherine

I would love to hear your experiences of Bioidentical hormones.  I was recently prescribed Livial but due to spotting I never took it and am having Hysteroscopy and Biopsy.

I hope to start some form of hormones after that

      Hi Katherine,

although I don't seem to be suffering the ways lot of the other ladies on here are, I would still be interested to hear about the bio identical hormones. Unless you are talking about the creams that get rubbed on lower abdo or groin - I tried those for almost a year to give them a fair try and during that time almost got divorced over my mood swings...

      thanks,

      Hi Katherine ,

back in February 2015 I had radical hysterectomy due to the border line tumours on both ovaries. I am 46 and due to surgically induced menopause I was put on Premarin with horrific side affect, progynova was my doctor next choice with same problem as first hrt. At the moment I am on livial and I feel I am 95 years old with muscle and joint pain . I am due to see soon menopause specialist and I would like to know your experience with bio identical hormone replacement.

      I am also from Australia.

      Kind regards

      Hi Katherine

I'm thinking of taking the Bio hormones as been on Livial and had to go off it.

What can you tell me about them are they any good or better.

    Hi everyone

I have been seriously worried about my joints - constant aches - feels like my hips and shoulders are actually going to dislocate - I was anticipating knee and hip replacements before long - and then i found this site - much as livial is great for my mood - it seems like I'm not the only one suffering side effects, including horrendous acne - I am booked in for xrays but now I think it must be the livial!

Please share your experiences - i need to know whether there is any alternative out there for someone who has become my worst nightmare since an early menopause - impossible to live with and any excuse to do nothing...not good for the kids who just don't understand.

    please share and help

    Hi there............am I glad I found you all.........same as...same as.....

I have been using the liveal for nearly a year now, with the prostap injection. I was given this because my PMT symptoms were so bad, I was suicidal to the point I had everything ready to do it! I just couldnt have gone on living the way I was.........

I am suffering excrutiating pain in my arms, now starting in my legs....forgetful, not sleeping and still having the sweats! and I think Iv also turned into a \"moaner\" I never used to moan!! On the bright side, Im no longer suicidal, but have to say I am no longer anything, no ups, no downs..........no nothing...........gained weight...quite a lot around my stomach and bum area! Nothing fits me anymore! But what do I do? Rock and a hard place comes to mind!! I just want to be me, who ever that is! I really dont know anymore! :? :x

I did try a nasal hrt which was brilliant but they stopped it in England...now i might try going without anything as i am so moody i might do someone some damage!!

My wrist and knees are so so painful and it feels like i am been strangled...

[quote:20e8c3b6da=\"S. \"]I have been takingLivial since Nov 05 at first I was fine but the last tree months I have had various degrees of monthly blee. I have no hot flushes but my Fibromyalgia pain seems worse.I did'nt want to take any medication but the hot flushes were so bad I thought I would try now I really wish I had not I spoke to my GP this afternoon and he advised me to go in for an examination next week and a probable scan now I am besides myself with worry wish I had not gone down the HRT road. I was told that as I was 3 years postmeno not to expect any bleeding has anyone had these side effects. Yes and some headaches and mood swings sometimessad I feel like pulling my hair out.
