I have been worried about my swollen lymph nodes and health in general

hi everyone!

ive been a hypochondriac ever since i was diagnosed with mono in february.

my lymph nodes have been swollen since then and i was wondering if this should be something to worry about.

i feel that my only symptom rn is the swollen lymph nodes, and it's been bothering me.

Should i be worried about my health down the road because of mono?

im a pretty active person who swims everyday.

i felt fatigue in the first month after my diagnosis, but i feel fine now knock on wood

I'm just curious if your lymph nodes swelled at the start or did it take a few weeks? I think I have mono.

    Hi c7,

So sorry to hear that you have been going through mono since February, really empathising having went through a tough time with the virus a number of years ago. It is only understandable to be anxious and worried about your health when going through a virus like mono, it's so hard not to worry with it was easy!

I just want to reassure you that swollen lymph nodes can be very common during mono, it is classic mono. I had one particular 'reactive' gland (reactive was the word the doc used) in my neck which bothered me throughout, and different aches and pains in other glandular areas too, but thankfully and with God's help only it all settled down with time. Don't panic if it takes a little time to settle down, it's normal that it can take a number of months for the lymph nodes to settle down, but it will settle with time that was my experience.

I too was worried about lymph node in my neck especially and went to see the doctor and they did an ultrasound on it just to check it out, and that's when they said it was a reactive gland, which is a normal part of the virus of mono and nothing extra to worry about. Of course if concerned it's always a good idea to check in with the doctor and hoping that they can put your mind at rest regarding this.

You will get over mono for sure, please don't think you have to be worried about your health in the longer term with this - as I say it's a frustrating virus in that it can take a little time to get fully over, but the vast vast majority of people with some time get over this and get back to full health and don't have any other issues - but it can certainly be normal still to be feeling rough and beaten up after 3 months of this so don't panic, things will get better!

It's great you are able to keep active and do swimming, just watch you are not overdoing it when recovering from this virus, listen to your body and rest when you need to! Also drinking plenty of water and taking good immune boosting vitamins / herbs (multi-vitamin, B complex, Vitamin C, etc) can help too during recovery, but of course it's always wise to check for any interactions with other medication / conditions before starting to take any herbs or vitamins, or checking in with a doctor or herbalist.

Hang in there c7, it's a great forum on here with lots of people who know what it's like to go through this horrible virus and are supportive and give good and encouraging advice - please message any time and key thing to remember is that with a little time you will get back to full health again, I truly believe that given my own recovery experience and reading the recovery stories of many others who went through a tough time with this horrible virus.

Haha exact same thing with me man. I've been posting in the recovery thread, miserable experience, check it out.

My glands are also swollen and painful since Feb, some more than others. It's been bothering me a great deal, but I've seen many people here go through the same since then. I will get it checked out soon but I think its normal.

Mine started gradually, just one or two at first, then a lot around my neck, collar bone, armpit and groin. Hang in there man I've seen many people here post about the same thing.
